Paper was so-so, not good but not too bad. Have managed to answer all the question on the best of my ability, though when you look back you always think you messed up on it all.
Q4 was bad, not that i dont know how to compute the income tax & nic, i just didn’t pay much review on the NIC and the forms given, i mean how can you identify what’s included in the form if you haven’t even seen one 🙂 Q1 was earth shattering with that inheritance opening notes, its like OMG have i read about inheritance??? lossen my confidence a bit but still tried to go on and answer. Q2 & 3 seem ok though tricky atleast you could say you can grab some mark somewhere even if your overall answer is wrong. Q5 is textbook perfect question on how to distribute trading loss. Just hope i could grab atleast 50% mark.

Too much “advise” questions
I anticipated more “calculate” and I made
tricky Bits “looking at both sides – how would it affect the employee / employer.. I felt like the examiner tried to entangle my mind and it worked for most of it as I had to re-visit a few questions..
I felt empty after..
December 7, 2010 at 5:21 pm #72798A disaster, truely 🙁
The VAT forms? Wtf was that about, how can they expect us to know every little detail of things. I know the basics of a P45, P60 etc, but the dates they are due? How are we to remember stuff like that, as well as the thousands of other tiny little nuances of tax? I just think there is too much in the syllabus for us to be examined on something as mundane as that…. sour grapes I suppose, but I think most people will have to keep re-taking until they get lucky and the stuff they know is questioned.
Although saying that, even on the relatively easier stuff I made silly mistakes (adding the phone costs onto Q1 when I KNEW it was exempt!)…. Q2 and Q5 were easy enough, I just hope I done enough to pass
December 7, 2010 at 5:49 pm #72799After reading all these comments im pretty sure i failed! I gave the integral feature fya and transferred to main pool because for some reason i thought i could only be an integral feature if it was £100,000 and for some reason taxed the exp car at 10%. Im pretty sure i got all the figures in that question wrong. Q4 was a complete write off!! Guttered 🙁

I studied a lot, I thought i know everything so i was expecting that it would be easy for me…… it was difficult! i’ve answered all questions and i think i passed but i still think that the examiner went for most tricky bits of syllabus he could…

Question 4 sucked big time ! 😡
i didnt get a bit of it .. 🙂December 7, 2010 at 7:17 pm #72802paper was OK completed in 2.5 hours. but did a mistake in Q5 losses in extended carry back option. Have to be adjusted against only Trading Income/Profit and I also read the same in examiner Article but forgot during the exam about this. overall paper was good and attempted very well. Q4 was tricky but attempt-able.
December 7, 2010 at 7:21 pm #72803VAT output was just little above to 10,000, perhaps 10098 or like this.

hmmm for q5 carrying back the loss is just limited to 50000 right :S ?
December 7, 2010 at 8:20 pm #72805I feel so deflated, i did so much prep for the exam and felt it was wasted. QU1- i got very confused with, i did all the practise papers and the BPP and Kaplan revision kits and all those QU1s i got to grips with but felt the actual benefits examined were too similar and it limited available marks. Got the accom bit wrong, both of the childcare things and probably loads more too. QU2 – CA i spend hours doing but never covered the integral features enough i guess also leases, got confused on that. SO ANNOYING!!!! Groups OK, i think the VAT calc OK but i wasnt sure on penalties. QU3 OK i guess. QU4 – did some calcs but forgot limit of the expensive car, i knew a limit but didnt know what it was. Grrrr. QU5 OK i think. Maybe i didnt prepare enough, it just seemed all the stuff i didnt want or hadnt considered would be crucial came up. CRY 🙁
All day been trying to get on and prepare for audit tomorrow but have lost the will to live as i did so much prep for tax and feel it didnt pay off and feel so down now. 🙁 Fingers crossed for everyone, maybe a miracle will happen. Or at least can relax til Feb
Good luck in all your other exams and results guys 🙂
December 7, 2010 at 8:24 pm #72806Oh and i had about a minute remaining when finished question five, looked through the exam paper and i had written very messily and i think the marker will never find my answers… although they’ll be wrong even if they do.
Also the exam hall was so very cold, my hands kept going numb and feet felt like ice block by the end of the exam!! Tomorrow i am going to wear alot more layers!!
🙂
December 7, 2010 at 8:35 pm #72807Another moan…. exams in June will have the new 2010 finance acts so materials used this sitting will probably not be valid again. Grrr
CRY 🙁

it wasnt the easiest exam that’s a cetainty, the questions had little tricks in them which made me take the time to think a bit harder and time became an issue…i definately did not expect PAYE in question one and and knew nothing about it but it was in the syllabus so thats my fault for assuming it wouldnt come…overall im not comfortable with my performance I was expecting an 80% I will be happy to take my 50% and carry on merrily:)
December 8, 2010 at 11:11 pm #72822I think ACCA has changed the pattern for F6 and F8 for Dec2010 by mistake instead of in June 2011.
