labor variance 7 marks gone
comparison private and public organisation 5 marks gone
and last but not least…linear programming…20 marks goneDecember 13, 2010 at 11:36 am #74525duong:
a bit late for you, I guess, but the lectures on variances are there:

she change the entire formate of the paper.
IDecember 13, 2010 at 1:12 pm #74527Labour variance :-s don know how to calculate but i did it :-s through 2200/2*1.5 for LCD something like that
Question 3 was easy but i moved scale outside rather than inner side 🙁 how much marks i loss?
Question 2 was ok but too lengthy
Question 4 was easy one but i am confused about driver :-s
Question 5 was just ok
InshaAllah passed 🙂

Easy! I was literally laughing during the reading time! 🙂 Such an easy paper. Though I’m sad because I prepared for difficult topics, like Time Series Analysis, Learning Curve… the paper was not challenging.
Although, I somehow guessed that the new examiner will play.. I mean… see ABC and Linear Programming were both examined in June 2010, too. A lot of students would have thought that those were unlikely.
So, here is the format:
Q1. Variance Analysis (basic!)
Q2. Performance measurement (both financial and non-financial)
Q3. Linear programming
Q4. Activity Based Costing
Q5. BudgetingDecember 13, 2010 at 1:38 pm #74529labour rate variance: 4,950 (A)
labour efficiency variance: 6,XXX – 4,950 (6,XXX i don’t remember but it’s on question)Is that correct? Sbd has same answer??
Question not too difficult but I did not well at all, don’t know why that was,,, hmmmm. Only hope passing rate.

Congratulations to all of you,we did it!:)
Could someone confirm my calculations:
Linear programmiong: x=2 000, y=333,33 ?
Please tell me that is correct…)December 13, 2010 at 1:52 pm #74532AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

linear programming
x= 825, y = 1275
December 13, 2010 at 1:52 pm #74533Horrible. Linear programming was my Waterloo. Can anyone get 50 over 80? Never mind. Merry Christmas everyone!

Linear programming… really didn’t expected.
Labor variances as well were a bit challanging.December 13, 2010 at 2:01 pm #74535Hi guys,
well done to all. We can all now relax.
Q1 was fine but made a mess on the labour rate/efficiency variance
Q2 was good
Q3 was a big struggle made by myself for not drawing the diagram clearly. The constraints I think I did well with but the optimal point was unclear. Kaplan book didn’t teach how to calculate slack, and the shawdow price didn’t work for me. Any points on this question is a bonus for me.
Q4 was good
Q5 was goodI hope for a pass!!!

Dear, Kaplan did teach how to calculate slack.

Exactly. I left a comment within the paper about learning curves…
and man i learned Time Series analysis… I must say the paper could have been challenging.Liked Q2.

Paper was OK. But I needed more time.. Time wasn’t enough.

paper was too easy. i had prepared for difficult topics like learning curves and time series. the time was not enough at all. how does some one exhaustively answer such a paper with all that kind of theory in 3hrs? the exam was about apportioning time correctly. i left a whole 20marks on linear programming!! i know, God be with me. soooo sad!!!
December 13, 2010 at 2:10 pm #74542Easy
December 13, 2010 at 2:15 pm #74543Straightforward – and nice to have the answers to check your work on the variances.
It was a little long and I’m dying with bronchitis which made it hard to concentrate at times but even still I would expect to do very well.
December 13, 2010 at 2:24 pm #74544Canany1 tell about budgeting question??is that about theory or calculation??

paper was ok, but qution spot does not work for me, it was time presure, and lenthy quetion than previous exminer’s resent paper. hope to pass. good bless. i am going to take relex. u toooooooooooooooooo????
December 13, 2010 at 2:27 pm #74546Fairly doable, I think in q1 the entire Extra hours were the variance x 18. Remember the two variances in labour had to reconcile with the variance given in question. Otherwise, forgotten the rest, off to bed 🙂
December 13, 2010 at 2:28 pm #74547good one!!! loved it 🙂
December 13, 2010 at 2:36 pm #74548I didn’t have time left for calculations in liear programming, though I have a fairly good understanding of this topic :(((. Without the result from part a, shadow price and slack in part b couldn’t be worked out. Had there been only two constraints I could have very quickly worked them out by calculating not drawing! So I just listed the formulae and wish credits could be earned for these efforts.
I would say 2 – 3 cost drivers are enough to see if the student has grasped ABC, but 4 cost drivers were so time consuming!
Pray for a pass!
