I am planning to sit for the p7 exam this June solely relying on open tuition notes and lectures.
I have been reviewing the texts and past papers plus Tony Surridge’s extensive collection of Q & As.
However, my lack of experience means that I encounter many new terms and concepts.
I am really keen and interested in the field of Audit. So will experience play a big factor for the exams?
How can I better prepare myself for the exam, besides the usual
1) Know your syllabus
2)practice within the time frame and mark allocationFebruary 18, 2013 at 8:52 pm #118189Well, I am sure P7 can be done self study. I did the exams long before i entered the accounting world, since I was still teaching the sciences. I however went to tuition for it, since I was not an auditor much less an accountant and I wanted to at least ensure that I was giving it the best shot.
If you are going to do it self study, tehn I suggest you focus from early and practice, practice, practice.
February 20, 2013 at 7:28 am #118291Hi, Yes U CAN PASS THE PAPER WITHOUT THE RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE…. you’ll just have to try harder and make sure you understand the study material and can sufficiently explain what you’re doing on the answer booklet in the allotted time frame. Get a good ACCA approved study text, and practice past papers ( it goes without saying). You should also try to download the examiners Report’s for the last year as this is an analysis of the exam and will usually point out the common pitfalls that students make……..I wrote the exam in Dec ember and passed (first attempt, no prior audit experience, used Kaplan study text and past papers in conjunction with Opentuitions Lectures)………..So give it your best shot….The sky’s the limit
