Now that you can sit the Professional papers in any order, I am thinking of sitting P7 before P2 as P2 looks quite tricky. Would you advise this, is there any overlap between these papers with the theory side?
    Thanks

Huge overlap. How do you want to audit a business accordingly with IFRS without knowing the IFRS?

It is possible but risk journy. Because you may take P2 say three years back and now you may forget every detail in P2. To pass P7 you may use test the story and comment on what is wrong i.e. result on FS overstatement or understatement. Plus go to the frame work i.e. Recognition, measurement & disclosure etc,,,

I have decided to take P7 before P2 as well, as I just couldn’t study for P2 in June (due to being away on the course dates etc).

I didn’t realise there would be so much overlap etc. The very first lecture video I am watching says you should only attempt P7 after taking P2.

Now I am thinking I have made a massive mistake 🙁

I have also been considering sitting P7 before P2 but not so sure now. I’m sure it is possible to learn the overlapping P2 material but worried it will take too much time. Can anyone advise how important p2 is for p7?

I know ACCA and the providers recommend sitting p2 first but I’m can’t sit p2 exam in June so my choice at this stage is either p7 or p4.

you’ll find it difficult studying paper p7 without taking paper p2 first, remember when you did paper f8, how would you detect audit risks that relate to financial statements without knowing a few accounting standards such as ias 2,16,38,etc. The overlapping knowledge of paper p2 in p7 cannot be overemphasized, even the paper p7 examiner as stated that it’s assumed that students taking p7 have either passed or are taking paper p2 at the same time.
personally, i found p2 not too demanding, it’s a balanced paper to me, most of the standards covered in p2 are already covered in paper f7, if you feel comfortable with f7 standards p2 should be a walk in the park for you.
In summary, i wouldn’t suggest you take up p7 before doing p2.
