    Hello Mike,

You and Opentuition have been my only source of help for the past 2 years (thank you so much for that too) so I’d like to get your valuable opinion on this:

How hard do you think P7 is if you have a sound knowledge of all of the IASs from P2?
I have only P2 and P7 left to complete now. Been self studying for P2 since late March (will be sitting for it in June) and am aiming to get Prizewinner (if not first in my country). I’m still learning all the standards at the moment.

My friend just told me that I needed to complete all the exams in order to get a graduate position in the mid-tier or big 4 and I was intending to start work in August.

Now I’m considering to take P7 as well but I would have only 1 and a half months left. Been self-studying for ACCA whilst in army for the past 2 years but I’ve never done 2 papers at once. I really do want to maintain a high mark on my papers.. but is it foolish to take on both papers with this amount of time?

Really looking forward to hearing from you,
    Derrick.

    Hi Derrick

No, 2 papers is certainly doable, even with only 6 weeks left

Clearly you have no prior auditing experience … so that’s a bonus from your point of view (sincerely!)

Get hold of a revision kit for P7 and start reading – just reading

Question, answer, question, answer … endlessly repetitive question, answer

Read the last 10 technical articles

Read the last 5 examiner’s reports

Read the course notes – just read – 2 hours from start to finish

    Watch the lectures

But, most of all, just read those questions and answers

Don’t bother buying a study text

Just read those questions and answers

Knowledge of IAS / IFRS is a bonus and the ability to apply common sense and imagination will help enormously

The discipline of an army background could help with examination technique and that is crucial to your chances of success

So read the articles on exam technique for P7 – one from me and another from a member of the P4 marking team – you’ll find them towards the bottom of the P7 home page

But, most important of all, question, answer, question, answer from a revision kit

And, when you reach the end of that revision kit, do it again

    And then again

And then, 2 weeks before the exam, post on this forum again for the second part of my advice as to how best to prepare for success in P7

    OK?
