    Hi all,
I am a little bit in a pickle. Please share your views.

I studied towards F7 for June sitting but during the revision phase I had very stressful time at my new job and therefore I found it difficult (too stressed and because of that too tired) to sit down and revise, not to mention, I found it difficult to concentrate as well.

Therefore I don’t think I am ready for this exam and I am thinking not to take it this time.

I would like to take it in September though but… because I am skipping one exam sitting, I would like to catch up and therefore I am thinking to take it together with another exam, i.e. professional level (that’s all I have left).

Now, I can’t take SBL, the syllabus is too large an I read on ACCA website that it is better taken last because it consolidates all the knowledge from all previous ACCA papers. I can’t take P2 because I haven’t passed F7 yet and I can’t take Advanced Audit (Options paper) because I haven’t passed P2 yet. So the only other paper left is my Options paper P6.

I heard P6 has enormously large syllabus so I am just wondering if it is indeed SO large? Would it be possible to still do it alongside F7?. Please, bear in mind that I did go through F7 tuition phase and all I have left to do is to revise. Which, to be honest, does take time.

But is this not too much for a full time working mum? Am I trying to bite too much?:( I feel very angry at myself that I am skipping June’s exam but the circumstances made me do that and I would like to get back on track somehow.

    Please advise.

Indeed – that is quite a pickle! I think you should consider not sitting an additional exam in September but work to sitting SBR in December 2018 – that will give you plenty of time to build on what you are revising now for F7.

I presume you are considering ATX-P6(UK) and AAA-P7 for options as the most relevant to you. If you sit SBR in D18 you could plan to sit AAA in M19 – I wouldn’t advise ATX for a first time attempt in March unless you have a clean “pass” history as, if you have a hiccup, you’ll have to revise a new finance act, etc.

As a full-time working mum I think it’s important to not put yourself under too much exam pressure – slow and steady will get you to your goal more quickly than an unsuccessful attempt to catch up on a missed session.

    Hi

P6 is the largest of all the syllabi, I chose to do this on its own as alongside another paper would be brain overload.

Given also the differences in accounting treatment with financial reporting & taxation there is a greater likelihood of mixing up the two if done together.

Concentrate on F7, build on to SBR & AAA, SBL & then ATX.

    Best of luck.

Thank you very much for sharing your opinions. That is really helpful!

kim2311, I guess I will have to come to terms that I am missing June’s sitting and just take one paper at a time from September. It is indeed better not to put too much pressure on myself.

anon100, you are right. If the syllabus is so large it’s better to take this paper on it’s own.

I almost booked P6 course today but I guess I better concentrate on revising for F7 exam for September and then take SBR in December. Better to prepare well for one exam than stress, overload my brain and not to pass either just because I tried to bite off more than I can chew.

Good luck – I think you have made the right decision to put June behind you and move on 🙂

Interesting your issues are very similar to my own.
