Passed with 57%. Affiliate now
February 11, 2013 at 12:55 am #117178I cannot believe this, I was in shock to see my result. I sat in P3,P5 and P6. I got time to prepare only p6… I did so much hard work and finished whole syllabus 2 TIMES! attempted 100% and was really confident about what i did. got 43% π
Didn’t even touch the book/kit/notes for p3, attempted only 80%…. and i have cleared it!. I have a question!!!…. why p3 and why not p6 ? π
February 11, 2013 at 4:41 am #117189Thank YOU! Will definitely then choose P5 again. Hope, in August 2013 I will become an ACCA AFFILIATE!!!

I’ve had similar problems.
I am sure that you know the subject but the issue is that such may not be coming across in your exam script.
I think that an issue is that one can end up going into the exam hall knowing too much and, certainly in my case, run out of time to give the answer that is needed trying to get down on paper everything that you wanted the question to be and in doing so often miss easy points in trying to show the depth of knowledge that you have.
This seems particularly true where everything has been learned in an academic fashion but one is still not completely at one with the subject matter.
This happened to me with P5 where I could regurgitate the books almost word for word but it was only when I got to the stage where I did not have to think about the answer from a technical perspective but rather genuinely felt comfortable with the material and able to discuss with rational argument that I managed to pass that one.
The key I feel is being able to argue points rationally with someone else of equal knowledge. If you can do that then you can pass the exam.
For the run up to the June retakes try studying as though you are teaching the subject to someone else rather than learning it yourself.
Also, if you have a study buddy that can really help as you are forced to show depth of knowledge rather than simply assume that it is there.
But, whilst the above may be sound advice, like yourself I studied intensely for this one and came away with a fail. Then again, despite feeling that I knew the material I wasn’t truly confident with it and I did struggle with Q1which threw my timings in the hall.
Good luck with the retake. Fingers crossed we both come away with better results from the June sitting.February 11, 2013 at 1:43 pm #117313@omernadeem said:

no idea why, but i am in the same situation: cleared P1 & P2 while spending 99% of my time on P6.
February 11, 2013 at 2:26 pm #117344Please give tips on how to score high. I got 33%. I think I did not know enough and was really confused. The paper was a mess and looked a mess so not surprised but REVISION TIPS would be really useful.
I want to start from now!

Thanks much in advanceI used the BPP text, however I’ve heard that the Kaplan textbook is better. I did not do any taught or revision courses.
The key with this paper is appliacation, it is not enough to know P6 you need to know how to apply it. And the only way to do this is to practise PPQ’s – lots of them. The thing with P6 is that because the different chapters are so precise with what you are learning as you go thorugh the text is that you can start practising PPQ’s within the first couple of study questions. And by the time you get to the end of learing about personal tax you should most def be looking at completing or at least attempting the PPQ’s.
Start doing this now for the June diet, you should look to work through the text at least three times imo, each time you should be moving from studying to question practise, looking at notes to question practise and then just question practise and checking on the answers and looking at any areas of weakness. 150 hours and roughly 90 PPQ’s seams to be the benchmark.
Good luck with the re-take and everyone else, congrats to those who passed.

Hi All,
I would like to choose P6 instead of P4 due to pass rate higher. I did F4 Singapore variance long time before. I would like to choose the P6 UK because I think I can easy to do online course, I am self study. Do you think it is ok?
Tks you for your advise!

Hi All,
Anyone in OP to take the P6 Singapore variant?
I feel it is not easy to find down online material course in the net. No one in my country take the paper. Do I need to choose the P4 instead of P6? But I saw pass rate is very low in P4.
Can we just practice past paper exam and will pass the P6?
Thanks you for your advise
