Honestly I thought it was a fair paper, i.e. it covered the main topics. However, the decision to test the minor parts of these topics was difficult. Q1 – OK, Q2 – Difficult, Q4 & 5 – Very detailed and Difficult.

I felt I should have known some of the information but there is literally too much to remember on this paper! In particular I completely forgot about the cap on pension contributions… only realising after a full page of calculations… no time to go back through and change it! I made a comment to the marker in hope of some sympathy lol! I also forgot some of the main Disincorporation points.

I’m glad you only had to do 2 or the 3 Q’s in Section B as Q3 was a massive no go for me.

Well you guys can all write to ACCA and let them know how disappointed you are with the exam paper and it’s difficulty. That’s the best way to give them feedback 🙂

This was the disasterous in a sense that marks were alocated more than that of material it have .. secondly Exam was all focussed on VAT Individuals Very less part of CGT n IHT
    Hope for Good !

It is a good idea but how would it work? Leave us at least your Skype address, we can talk through the plan. I really think that we should start studying now, when we got used to work hard due to the exam pressure.

    Dear brother/sister

There is a proverb “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”
The group has been created especially for those, who attempted P6 exam in December 2015. But want to keep in touch with thousands of rules! Preparing ourselves through team working.

I believe, None of us is as smart as all of us. Insallah we will be winner.

Your kind participation will fulfill our dream.

    Yours best regards,

Hi All, I think it was very unfair exam. Most questions are very minor points of the whole syllabus. Agree with Brian expected more on groups and iht, it is very unfair to test such minor points. I have not got idea about pension lump sum still wondering. In regards to q1 it was not fair to test two reliefs together I am confused with either of them in isolation leave alone two coming up together in exam pressured environment. I was very well prepared hopefully done enough.

    Hi All,

Reading through this forum, it seems like I am in the same boat as many of you are.

I studied at Kaplan and their textbook was over 1200 pages, and given this, I felt like the exam was very unfair. There has to be some common sense and sympathy from the examiner, and some questions need to look at the bigger picture, rather than the really really niche topics that were tested.

Luckily I knew EIS and SEIS, so I’m hopeful for 10-12 out of 18 on that question, but for those who overlooked it, that was 20% of the paper written off…just seems unfair.

Also, Disincorporation Relief…9 marks, again, felt very niche.

There were no questions really on IHT on the whole. No overseas taxes for individuals. No loss relief. Just seemed like the main parts of tax were not tested, which is just disappointing and frustrating.

I understand that they can’t give the qualification away, but the reality is that there are no experts of every single tax, especially in practice. They usually specialise in one area such a CT, personal tax, employment tax and VAT etc. and for anything they don’t know, they look it up from a book/the internet.

Personally, I imagine I will get somewhere in the region of 45-55. Any other past paper, I’d be confident of a pass, but this one was horrible.

Good luck everyone on 18th January, I think we’re going to need it!

Can anyone remember q3 questions? I’m having a panic about not passing. It’s my final exam and really don’t want to have to go back!
