DMAIC, corporate failure, budgeting, KPI, quality management was the theme of this diet

I was expecting way more numbers in that exam. I found Q4 very hard to understand (A score / Corp failure). Q1 was good and Q2 (budgeting) was OK for me…BUT I am worried Q4 dragged me down as I couldn’t generate proper numbers.

Overall ok exam. Not the level of difficulty i was expecting.

Question 1. ii Was a evaluation of performance measurement of Perkin.

    Q2 about budgeting

    Q4 solution:

    Qulitative

Informastion on chairman report (i.e changes in accounting policy like the depreciation, evassions etc, etc)

    Press information.

External factors like the recession and change in general market conditions.

    Quantitative.
Analysis of rations like liquidity, gearing etc.etc.
Other information like large increase in borrowing, chashflow post balance sheet event like the loan for the development etc.

Overall had the impression it is one of the difficult advance paper but upon writing it today. I don’t think so.
With the Q4 you did not need to know all above all you needed was common sense as the answers were basically jumping out of the question.

However it is in-fact true the time was not enough.

The exam was ok compared to previous, but Q1 was always going to be an issue.
Quite straight forward but iv that talked about evaluating the information system used in iii was a bit confusing. However I’m hoping for a pass this time with God’s grace

The results are being released the week commencing 19th October but they haven’t given an exact date yet as far as I know.

Challenging paper as usual with very little calcs. Interpretation of the question requirements will make or break most of us (nothing new there!) Praying for a pass to finally put these exams to bed.

    Fair paper!

    Q1:
    Assess performance report
    Benchmark against competitor
    Sources of info
    ?

    Q2:
    Budgets / Beyond budgeting

    Q3:
    DMAIC
    Information needs
Moving from profit centre to revenue centre

It was very time pressured and I struggled to complete in the 3 hours.
Really not sure how i did – maybe scraped it – maybe high 40s…

What I still can’t get over.. No RI / EVA or cash flow analysis. No transfer pricing. No contribution calculations. No ratios. Eventhing I practiced a lot wasn’t examined. Today was like ALL theory.. BUT applied theory. So you just had the feeling you could waffle really easily if you didnt focus your answers.

It wasn’t a tough exam but I feel a bit..deflated…after all the preparation needed. If you studied six sigma, a bit about budgeting and A Scores you would have had a good a chance as any well prepared candidate.

P5 never fails to surprise I Guess.

My first attempt, I want my 50%. The effort doesn’t match what you can do in an exam. mixed feelings.

I’d say a lot of people were content with that paper though

    Best of luck to all!

    My thoughts:
    Q1
    i Assess the report (PAIL)
    ii, iii & iv benchmarking

I can not get over the volume of benchmarking questions and the lack of a performance management model question

    Q3
    a Six Sigma DMAIC
I messed up here as I kept straying into solution mode whereas the question asked to assess the application of DMAIC
b Sources of info / identify / improve
I was confused what the ask was here

    Q4
    a Argenti
Was running out of time by the time I reached this question. There was an opportunity to make up marks if I had given myself the time
    b Quantatative Information
