    Hi Sir,

I do not understand certain sentences from the course notes.

    Pg 85 of course notes:
“Both methods can also suffer distortions because of assets leased on operating leases and also if head office accounts for some ‘divisional’ assets (for eg: HO holding all receivables)?
–> Does it mean that when we calculate return on capital employed (it will be of a lower figure) and thus giving rise to higher ROI?

Pg 85 : Encourages maximization of ROI which might be how congruent with shareholders judge the company. I thought if you want to maximize ROI, at times it will not be congruent with what the shareholders want?

Pg109 : There must be management in depth? Meaning hiring the correct type of person with the right skill for the job?

    Thanks for your help

    Regards,
    Joanna.

    Q1 correct

Q2 if the directors want to maximise ROI, because they belivev shareholders want that, then each division must be encouraged to maximise ROI.

P109. Yes. Essentially a strong management team.
