If it helps I think the units for q1 was around 107k.. q1 was crazy, using a SWOT to create metrics, assessing qualitative and quantitative data and value chain for performance management?? Q3 and 4 were much kinder but we will see. Did anybody talk about over milking cows, invest in stars, R&D should be a cost centre and Baby be an investment centre?? Reading this back, it does sound weird..
June 4, 2015 at 8:52 pm #253378I totally agree!
It completely threw me when I saw the question on RI and ROI what are the assumptions? completely different to what the manager wanted in the scenario?
June 4, 2015 at 8:56 pm #253379i have messed up everything on this paper. Evrythng just went wrong though i know the full syllabus plus its my second attempt…will acca reduce pass mark? Am so depressed. Should o giv up here..ive passed all my previous paper fitst attempt only.so what is wrong now.
June 4, 2015 at 8:58 pm #253381i think we should all complaints to acca for the confusing quest
June 4, 2015 at 8:58 pm #253382Any1 did that? Used 2015 figures ie operating profit and current roce, solved for x to get capital employed. Then added the new investment cost(i took the w.c as well not sure about that) to the c.a and used the 103m /new c.a to get the new roce for the proposal of setting a factory.
overall the paper was fair but required a lot of quick thinking in order to make logical connections among all the info given. Anyway im pretty sure its 2nd round for me lol since i did only 70% of the paper.
i wanted to write ‘ see you next sitting :)’ on my paper lolJune 4, 2015 at 9:05 pm #253384AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

I agree with what most of you guys are saying. The syllabus is difficult enough without having to second guess what we are supposed to do. The questions are vague to say the least. I really think its unfair. I took P7 on Monday and the questions were logical and easy to follow, in stark contrast to P5.
Do you know what we were supposed to do for the fourth part (I think) of question 1? It was the question we were supposed to use $103m PBIT?
June 4, 2015 at 9:11 pm #253385As far as i understood, it asked how the current metrics on the dashboard will be affected by the 1st or 2nd proposal, i forgot which 1 it was.
June 4, 2015 at 9:23 pm #253388I only did the incremental break even which was something around 27K
June 4, 2015 at 9:28 pm #253390I didnt like the style of the paper how do you deal with four appendix in one qs when its already so long. It too jumbled up i would much prefer if section was divided in two like p7 it can be very off putting. What choice do you really have do you decide to do section B first. To me i feel you need at least mins to ready qs 1. I wouldnt say it was hard i feel the style of the qs was confusing thus time wasted decipher. I guess Acca will be getting another £100
June 4, 2015 at 9:34 pm #253396I agree rubbish setting what was it really trying to acheive I have never seen so many apendix having to flick the paper to and fro
June 4, 2015 at 10:17 pm #253405I am giving up changing to tax can’t pass this
June 4, 2015 at 11:08 pm #253419I agree to all questions set in p5 exams are so difficult to understand in time given..even after reading them for many times im still not sure i wrote what was asked..
Q1 had so much appendices it was very much irritating reading question then changing pages going through appendices then again going back to read question..
Plzz ACCA should recognise the fact about p5 that it is set too much difficult to solve in given time as required.June 4, 2015 at 11:53 pm #253422Did anyone use maximax, minimax etc when calculating the profits for the three different units? Im sure i done a couple of similar questions from the exam kit which required the same. As from what i can remember it was talking about risk in the profit calculation bit?

I agree with all the comments; here I was thinking this is my last exam but sadly will see it again in December. The requirements are so trick, ;lovely syllabus , unfortunately I feel like the PPQ did nothing to prepare for this madness.

I have been sitting Mock exams every weekend and my tutor marking them but came the exam time its like i haven’t done anything. i stopped in the middle of answering a question to ask myself if am answering the requirement, worse enough the lady sitting next to me was writing so quickly i could here her pen scribbling on the paper and calling for two extra answer sheets. she finished 15 minutes early, i was like are we doing the same exam. I felt so intimidated.
June 5, 2015 at 12:32 am #253429Does anyone remember what they calculated for the ROI and RI on question 4b. I think I got divisional ROI to be 20.75 and RI to be 41.36.
Do these numbers ring any bells with anyone?June 5, 2015 at 12:35 am #253430AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

I can’t believe…….that after studying everything backwards and working past paper questions, that I might fail because I took so much time trying to understand what I was being asked…

I was surprised when I read through all the comments, I think last sitting got more positive feedback mostly saying paper was easy blabla, and then when results came out, only 30% passed. Whereas for this sitting, most feedback complained how vague the requirements are. It is so interesting, I am wondering what will be the pass rate for this sitting? Will still be the lowest among the 14 papers, that is no doubt for sure.

This P5 is certainly a cashcow for the performance metrics of ACCA.
June 5, 2015 at 4:23 am #253448Well I believe Q1 was half straight forward and half compllex…. A lot of appendixes given to analyse…. Using SWOT analysis to suggest metrics well nt tht tough…. Q4 was pretty much straight forward with Assessing EVA giving its advantages and disadvantages…. However i dnt knw whether some one noticed tht the company was a family owned company…with only family shareholders….Was EVA suitable to assess performance… I did mentioned this point…other than tht reward system was really straight forward….Q3 was relatively easy as well also nt too complex using KPI to calculate customer perspective…. and commenting on the suggested KPI’s…. This is what i understand from it….Did the whole paper in time… tht can be a plus point fr me I hope… lets hope for the best….
