The question1 seems OK. Question 2 wasted my time then do Q3 and Q4. The requirement of question is confusing for me. 5 forces is how to link performance and reporting and how to impove performance report using 5 forces. It is difficult to answer. These question should not have the single and standard answer due to big dimension to reply. If examine marker use standard answer to mark, it will be disaster for all participators.

This was the worst paper i ever had!
Wasted so much time on ABC/ABM, which i finally didnt do. I didn’t have a clue of how to tackel the question
Section B was horrible! There weren’t that much thing to write about for so much marks.
God i would have prefered sitting for the pilot paper!June 13, 2013 at 6:03 am #131922AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

Time is so tight.
I cannot answer 50% of marks in most question asked…and I can’t relate much valid points in using performance management knowledge to the question asked. I feel little weird about the way it asked, maybe because of the time pressure.
Terrible feeling ever. Hope marker can give mercy on me….
give me a pass…same here 🙁

June 13, 2013 at 7:50 am #131935The paper was OK. Just time pressured as Q1 was about the story of the paper and Q3 how it relates to P3 and F5 papers. Gee, performance advancement!!!!!!
June 13, 2013 at 1:36 pm #132001That Question on Porter’s Five Forces was total guess work for every body who attempted it including me. I just wish the markers become just lenient, For Example what performance measure do you recommend for Bargaining power of buyers?
Remember we have both financial and non financial but Alex Watt wanted only one. Which means if you chose Financial no non financial and you have to defend your choice. It was not really easy in such a short time. Anyway hope they become lenient but those section B questions were very horrible.June 13, 2013 at 5:10 pm #132044Dear All,
Please take time out to partake from the survey, it just might help.
ACCA welcomes your feedback on the exams that you took at the June 2013 session. The feedback you give will be considered by the Global Exam Review Board. The Board meets to review the questions, answers and marking schemes after the last exam paper has been sat at each exam session. This ensures that the papers are a fair and reasonable test and is one of the final stages in the quality assurance process before they are marked and the results are finalised.
We would be most grateful if you could take the time to complete the survey ( https://acca-info.com/47A-1K5FY-A61ST-MI7SD-0/c.aspx ).
The survey closes on 17 June 2013, 12.30 pm (BST). The survey will take around 15 minutes of your time.
All the best!
June 13, 2013 at 6:41 pm #132057The exam was relatively ok, however I was not good in time management.
I got comfort with Q1 (BSC and Building Blocks) but spent lots of time there that I did it next to Transfer Pricing. I became lastly pressured and running with out of time to do the last one, Porter’s Five Forces. May I get 50!? hope with doubt!June 13, 2013 at 7:40 pm #132071I had a good laugh when examining the paper. Like most of the comments, after Q1 nothing is sure and you either hit or miss. I was totally confused with ABC and Transfer so i will be marked from 75% of the paper.
June 14, 2013 at 1:10 pm #132198Such a tricky set of options. It’s a shame that so many people will be judged solely on how the incredibly reasonable Q1 went as they scramble over the finish line. A lot of people seem to be complaining about porters 5 forces where realistically it was a gift to get such a basic model. The only difficulty in its application was the complexity of the product (fuel cells?!) which could have confused many of threat of substitutes etc and the fact that the product wasn’t actually available as such therefore ruling out customers as a Power (car users). Other than that it was passable I think.
However… The abc and TP questions were incredibly unapproachable. I was honestly prepared for both and found I could barely scratch the surface with the numbers. I resorted to doing the ABC question but should have spent my time perfecting my other answers (yes it went that bad!). I couldn’t work out anything so took the hated approach of discussing how abc will enable more effective management of costs compared to the existing absorption method. I really hope I don’t have to rely on a single mark from this. I need 50 from 75 to be totally honest. Fingers crossed.

I thought it was a easy sit when i opened the paper, but i really got stuck on Q2 ABC and Q3 Porter five forces another fail, I believe. I prepared all the theory well but hard to apply to the question case!
June 22, 2013 at 6:42 am #133079I am going to start my ACCA study again after long time and i am feeling that my knowledge is not updated. i have decided to attempt P5, and also i am self studying. Can any body guide me how to start and what has to focus during the study.
July 1, 2013 at 4:55 am #133433Hi @waqasaziz,
1. Index all PYQs by their respective chapters. (For example, group up Qs relating to balanced scorecard)
2. Highly important to study the whole syllabus in the text book.
3. Read outside the text book like business reports and magazines, government outlooks and management issues.
4. I know you are currently self-studying, but do take this opportunity to enrol yourself in a part-time tuition. Paper P5 needs very much a tutor to guide you based on his own work experience or knowledge of the business environment, as examiner Alex Watt makes it clear that Paper P5 is a Masters-level paper and it is not an easy paper to pass.
