Hi Guys!
I was looking at June 2015 exam paper on P5. I just noticed that some of questions are somewhat confusing. I’m not really sure if this was done on purpose. But to site an example, look at Question 1 (iv) and the answers to that particular question.
It seems the appropriate wordings for this question should be ‘Using 2015 figures as a base, evaluate the impact of the new factory on the values OF THE CHOSEN metrics in the existing dashboards’.
The exam wording is this: ‘Using 2015 figures as a base, evaluate the impact of the new factory on the values and choice of metrics in the existing dashboards’.
Again, if you check the answers to this question, you’ll get what I mean.
What do you guys think? π
February 26, 2016 at 2:35 pm #302178The wording is correct in my opinion
evaluate the impact of the new factory on the values (ie. of current metrics)
AND
choice of metrics. (ie. are these metrics appropriate)
So you have 5 marks for numbers + 1-2 marks for commenting numbers and that fills first part of question
Then you are left with 3-4 marks to comment after the word AND.
Because there are so few marks available for comments I guess the examiner intention was to challenge student to focus only on really, really most important matters (1-2 marks only). So only comment on ups/downs and ROCE as the most important factor (asset base).
Of course his answer is longer as always than would be expected on exam from studentThe second challenge (2nd part of question after the AND word)
was to figure out that the current dashboard would no longer be appropriate after introduction of new factory (3-4 marks).
(He didn’t expect going line by line commenting on each KPI in dashboard)
Rather suggesting additional operational KPI’s for production (productivity, quality, utilisation etc) to the Management can monitor factory performance.Hope that helps.
Personally I would score little marks for second part of question. Most likely uncder exam stress I would go line by line through each KPI and justify appropriatness so not what examiner really expected as mentioned.
I also want to relate to your second post about writing your real name.
In this question you can see you are “Performance Management Advisor” – if you write this on your booklet you should get 0.5 professional marks because your are showing marker that you have really read and understood scenario. For ‘casual’ Advisor, Accountant no additional prof mark. (Just my gut/experience feeling)
