    Hello,
I have two papers remaining to complete ACCA. I’ve decided to write P7 as one of the options.
I failed with 38 in my first P5 attempt in June. I watched 16 hours of P5 lectures and went through all the Q&A since 2012.
I found the exam hard because of how vague it was. I couldn’t understand what the questions were asking for. I’ve noticed that this is a common complaint regarding the P5 exams.

I’m now looking at the other options: P4 or P6. I had P4 as a subject in uni and absolutely hated it. I’m not a fan of numbers.
    I don’t mind Taxation but I’ve heard that’s harder than P4?
    Should I retake P5?
I would be very grateful if somebody could advise me as to which paper I should attempt.
    Thank you.

I would retake P5, as you’ve only failed once and with 38% I reckon you have a good chance of passing it a second time round.

If you are comfortable with the syllabus, I recommend focusing on exam technique! Leave lines for the marker, make it clear, underline headings. Write sharp sentences. Avoid waffle.

Remember that when you’re asked to write a report, it’s often to the board or non-financial people so keep it simple form and target your answer to the audience. I think that’s why so many students fail P5. The examiner wants information to be conveyed easily as you would in the real world, not confusing people with long ugly blocks of text or unnecessary jargon.
