It’s my first attempt at this paper and I’m wondering why I chose P4!!!

Q1 In Part A I spoke about if they had there own assembly plant they would have better control, acquire high calibre employees because the scenario said people from Yilandwe where ambitious and well educated.

Q4 was about interest rate futures, options and collars.I found the calculations ok but part b was a written element about discussing margin payments and futures prices changing daily which I had no idea about and ran out of time so didn’t really write anything. Seriously WTF did anyone write about the futures changing daily?? I thought those prices were valid for the whole month!!

Q1 – I actually said that based on the scenario the population was poor and likely low-skilled. As a result there should be cheap labor available.

Q4 – That second part threw me off. I basically wrote one-liners. I only had 3 minutes left anyways *cries*

Many are saying that 125 contracts is right and many are saying that 68 contracts is right.. which one is correct?

I also got 68 as required borrowing time for which hedge is used is 6 months ( = factor 0,5).
Time until contract starts is relevant for unexpired basis to calculate the expected futures price.

Hi everyone, can i ask how much u guys prepare for this paper before u attempt the exam yest?

I started with with “light” preparation in early April, meaning approx. 4 hours/week and did hard work from May 20 onwards. This was my first attempt and I am pretty sure I did too less…

P4 exam was not all that difficult but the timing was too short. I spent too much time on the question and also converted my final cashflows into euro instead of dollar.

Q1 was a standard question but was loaded and as such very demanding. But the optional questions were fairly difficult. Q2 was fairly standard unlike Q3 and Q4

I did not see anything wrong with the P4 paper. It was really in line with what we practice. There is nothing like difficult questions on the P4 paper, the major problem on this papers was the time contraints. I was able to attempt only 84% of the questions asked and I am not sure whether this will give me a pass.

Can anyone say if the examiner will go easy on the marking since it was such a time consuming paper ?
