Is there a particular reason why this exam is so time pressured? I sat it for the 2nd time yesterday, and although I answered it all, it was at haste and generally in a mild panic, hence I could have done better in hindsight

Is it a test of ability? recollection of facts? Is it just time pressured as the examiner wants to see a lot, and its just the nature of the beast?

    Hi Carl
I sat for the first (and prob not the last) time yesterday and felt the same.
I didn’t feel Q1 tested my technical knowledge asuch as it tested how fast I can type zeros in my calculator!
I really don’t see the point of testing varying rates of inflation in that way.

The consequences were that my brain was so beaten up that I struggled to process the info in Q2.

In complete contrast, I sat P5 today and although I overan on Q1 (full 50 mark report!) I managed to catch up on the optional ones and had 5 mins to spare whilst answering all of the requirements!!

I have heard some say that this P4 was better content wise than June though.

I sat P4 in June, first attempt and missed about a 3rd of the paper due to time pressure

This time, I was aware of time, went as fast as i possibly could, still couldn’t do it in time, which got me flustered and in a bit of a mess, unable to concentrate etc… Even if i had the answers on a sheet next to me, and all i had to do is copy them, i dont think i would have done it in time

The other P papers i managed to complete first time with time to spare

I just don’t get the justification, I know the papers are not checked for timing, the average grade is adjusted after,

Basically, as I understand it, if, on average, the majority only answered 90% of the paper, the 100 marks would be scored from the 90% answered

So if the majority struggled with time, and this was obvious from the marking, the % of paper marked would be adjusted

I think there’s numerous adjustments that are made at marking time. The score is from 100 marks, but its not confirmed where those 100 marks lie, as such
