hi..here did anyone work on the healthcare provider industry? got any example of the Company can suggest?
did Amgen suitable? please adbvise
Out of all the 3 industry sectors, I’m thinking to go for Electronic and Electrical Equipment.
Will Apple and Samsung be suitable companies for this sector ? Apple as Primary and Samsung being the comparator as they are in direct competition too.
I know you don’t recommend companies, but a suggestion from your side would be appreciated.can we choose PEL company for 2737 for topic 8? and what comparator company should be choose? thanks for help in advance.
The 3 new industry sectors have been announced:
1770 Mining
1771 Coal Companies engaged in the exploration for or mining of coal.
1773 Diamonds & Gemstones Companies engaged in the exploration for and production of diamonds and other gemstones.
1775 General Mining Companies engaged in the exploration, extraction or refining of minerals not defined elsewhere within the Mining sector.
1777 Gold Mining Prospectors for and extractors or refiners of gold-bearing ores.4533 Health Care Providers
Owners and operators of health maintenance organizations, hospitals, clinics, dentists, opticians, nursing homes, rehabilitation and retirement centres. Excludes veterinary services, which are classified under Specialized Consumer Services.2730 Electronic & Electrical Equipment
2733 Electrical Components & Equipment Makers and distributors of electrical parts for finished products, such as printed circuit boards for radios, televisions and other consumer electronics. Includes makers of cables, wires, ceramics, transistors, electric adapters and security cameras.
2737 Electronic Equipment Manufacturers and distributors of electronic products used in different industries. Includes makers of lasers, smart cards, bar scanners, fingerprinting equipment and other electronic factory equipment.@Trephena.
Hope you are fine, If you do not Mind kindly tell me whether these two companies in diamond minning are direct competitors or not and of same nature.
1. Mountain province Diamond.
2. Stornoway diamond cooperation.

I can only gather information about these 2 companies from online searches (probably the same as you!?)
Stornaway has probably not been fully operational for 3 years as the first production was mid July 2016 so you won’t have 3 years of financial statements.
The Mountain Province website does not seem to be working properly so I couldn’t establish what is available in terms of company information, although it has been going for a number of years.
Perhaps you may have better luck if you looked at the Australian mining sector?
Sorry I cannot be of much help. However I really don’t understand why students slavishly go for Topic 8 – my personal opinion is that it is a very dull topic! The current sectors are not inspirational although mining is potentially probably the best of a bad bunch

Well the explanation for Healthcare Providers is as follows:
“4533 Health Care Providers
Owners and operators of health maintenance organizations, hospitals, clinics, dentists, opticians, nursing homes, rehabilitation and retirement centres. Excludes veterinary services, which are classified under Specialized Consumer Services”So as SpecSavers and Vision Express are both opticians you should be fine with that selection 🙂
Hi @trephena would the industries for topic 8 & 15 for the Period 39 change or there is a chance it would stay the same. I am not aware of how it works for the industries in these topics also I am interested in appearing the P39.
The industry sectors set out above were fixed for Periods 37 and 38. Normally the industries would be expected to change for Periods 39 & 40 (in line with the revision in the Information Pack which is made every June/July). Obviously I cannot make a definite statement about this as OBU decides. However I think there is a greater chance that the industry sectors for Topics 8 & 15 will be changed for Period 39 than there is for them remaining the same and therefore the industry sectors are unlikely to be those above.
Please house, I want to understand this fact. Does mobile phones, televisions and home theater count as an electronic product for this research purpose?

Not an issue normally provided you explain in the Limitations section that they operate in different countries – but point out that they are on the same stock exchange.
Remember you should not do currency conversion as ratios eliminate the need (something again you could comment on) as currency conversion artificially introduces a factor that may not have anything to do with the management and is it would be dependent on the method you chose to convert. However you will not be able to compare straight revenues because of this but focus more on year on year % increases / decreases when discussing this particular aspect. Most other ratios including dividend per share would be unaffected.
I have selected a Gold mining company. In the Industry information section i need to provide the top 3 to 5 company’s revenue to provide idea about this industry.
However on google i am unable to find “top Gold mining companies”
Rather “top mining companies” are available instead.Will it be ok to show revenue of mining companies instead of gold mining companies
