paper was much difficult than before .. thus, I strongly believe ACCA wants a much lower pass rate this time around and we are the ones to suffer πŸ™

I don’t understand why the scenerio of Q1 has to be so long; reading long scenerio and choosing and picking point from scenerio for example for pestel and five forces is not REALLY testing skills for accountancy; I disagree with examiner on this moreover p5 is tougher paper than p3 but scenerio is not that nasty long.

2,25 min per page! And this is only for writing without thinking and analyzing .

Reading the q1 I’ve suddenly realized it’s very interesting in all that details about using telephone and computer networks to organize riots etc, have you noticed that? Think about recent revolutions in Arabic counties and Ukraine. Examiners are also people anyway ))

I thought in the same way

The exam was demanding but I liked it, i filled about 80 pages so hoping for 90.

I m totaly disagreed with you. More pages are not an assurance or gurantee for success. It depends on how much u write relevant and too the point.as examiner’s report always describe that many candidates just repeat the scenerio’s wording over an over again. As you are saying tht you right 80 pages it means that you did not use your time in reading question carefully and making plan.those whom focus on planning have time issues. Well wish u good luck.

Question 2 I think.. 4 products A,B,C,D, the subsequent appropriation of the16k direct production cost altered the decision in a progressive way.. – A & C were a “buy-in” decision,
the consequence was that direct production cost was to be aborbded over B&Dequally 8K each, however Dthen became uneconomic to Make, which then left B to bare all o the 16k cost and thus made B then also uneconomic to Make,

Upshot.. all were buy-in decision saving 16k, leaving outsourced variable cost and operating costs

    these were the financial considerations,

Yes guys paper was too lengthy. I think ACCA should review the length of P3 paper as more than 90% of candidates do not be able to complete the paper in 3 hours.

P3!!a disaster paper seriously. 20 marks on a sub question??? add another 5 and thats a full question. tooo tooo time presuureed. the toughest paper in P3 history. the examiner should no doubt be linent to avoid apocalyptic failures. how can one possibly attempt q1 in 1:45. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT IF THE EXAMINER HIMSELF WILL ACHIEVE A PASS MARK EASILY IF HE HAD ATTEMTED THIS PAPER IF HE HADNT SET THE QUESTIONS.

I Used PESTEL, Porters Dimond (National Competition said), and Weakness and threat. Not sure about 1.B.
Part B, 50 Marks was not good enough to have a hope. Lets see what happens…

After rethinking part Q1 the scenario and mark allocation porter diamond could have been a better option. Although the requirement could have been more straight about it. i used forces.

Very time pressured but the content was fair and I managed to finish it.

For Q1 I used PESTEL and Porters 5 forces and had loads of points on political. I saw loads of points for political but I also had a few paragraphs for the others. Naturally the opportunities and threats in the conclusion flowed from the external analysis as they are external in nature (as opposed to strengths and weaknesses which are internal). For the riots I said that is a threat because the company may be seen to be supporting the riots with their investment, therefore exacerbating the situation.

For part b I used an NPV analysis essentially as I thought the clue was in the examiner saying to ignore the time value of money. The probabilities seemed like a bit of a red herring and I felt that you could only really mention them on the grounds of risk etc (think there is a 30m cost (10m + 20m) if you bid and don’t win?)

Question 2 was fairly straightforward. I had 2 products that were cheaper to outsource and 2 that were cheaper to manufacture but I recommended not to outsource in the end due to the marketing strategy and the relatively low savings (I had 9k based on current production levels). I mentioned the potential loss of sales from boycotts etc.

Question 3 was also relatively straightforward. Last part of question 3 in particular was easy with 6 marks up for grabs if you used Mendelows and then gave an example in the case study e.g. the new mayor being the new project sponsor having high power and interest and so is a key player which the project manager needs to work closely with etc. etc.

Part b in question 1 really too much difficult.
I do not understand , what examiner wante from us.
I think there is a strategy of ACCA to increase revenue by failing students.

It looks likes in the future exams of p3 examiner will examine more topics from management accountancy and less from financial accountancy like he did in this one
