This was quite difficult not a ‘mark catcher’ exam.

The problem was time. There were lots of cherries to pick in question 1 but time was the issue

Not overly difficult, bit suprised at the lack of models required from own initiative. Found Q1 a bit long though, didn’t get to delve too deeply into any points because there were so many things to mention. Q2 and Q3 were OK…… hopefully., it felt that way anyway then again it was a lot of common sense kind of analysis.

Overall, was an OK paper, 1c caught me out totally and didn’t even attempt but managed 5 points for each SWOT so hoping to get close to the 20 marks for that and for the contextual factors seemed OK too (can’t even tell the time spent memorising for them to hand it on a plate!!)

Q2- calculated the contribution of each lecture assuming 5 people on average based on the rival firm, think it worked out to around $1400 per course. Suggested penetration pricing to gain market share. Part b was low hanging fruit.

Q3- was ok but struggled with evaluation though I think I handled implementation and selection ok. Pros and cons of the bespoke was ok too.

Disappointed no project management, outsourcing or stakeholders came up but wasn’t too bad.

Just hope 1c hasn’t bitten me on the ass. Good luck everyone…onto P1 now….

I started from 4b about benefit maps which I took to be benefit dependency network. It draws a map of business driver followed by investment objectives then project benefits, project changes and then the enabling changes.

The other one about benefit realisation is all you could say about planning and monitoring benefits to ensure that all benefits that should be realised are actually realised.

Then benefit owner is the functional or divisional mgr whose division would directly benefit from the changes brought by the project.

I then applied them to the scenario.

The a part was easy for me too. I took the lines one by one. The nut she’ll of it was that most of the basis of the cost/benefit analysis were not agreed, conclusive and baseless so the analysis was not acceptable to form part of the business case for the project.

That was how I answered question 4.

I did question 2b well but when I found myself struggling with the a part, I quickly left it to go back and pick more marks in question 1. Believe me you could pick lots of mark in question 1.

I don’t think Harmon model featured in any of them. Not in 1 2 and 4 am sure. But I didn’t attempt 3.

Disapointed not to see any numbers at all in Question 1, always feel there are easy marks to be had for some pretty basic calculations there. SWOT for 20 marks was good though and I fully agree that if you had 4/5 points on each you could score highly.

Question 2 was ok and I calculated his classes running with 5.26 people (The average attendance on the market leaders courses) and then made my points from this basis.

Rushed through question 3 (hated the look of benefit analysis in Q4) and would be happily take 7/8 marks from this question, didn’t do enough to earn any more!

It will be close! Good luck all.

does the examiner penalise if we dont identify a point under a category? i just wrote many issues and point out their effects on REink but i didnt point out if it was strength weakness etc… lol i think i just lost 20 marks xD
i remember reading somewhere that when using pestels for environmental anaylisis, the most imporant part was to identify the changes that can affect a company and not the classification of the factors under the pestel headings…so i thought it would be the same for SWOT lol
For instance i just wrote an issue and pointed out how it was detrimental or beneficial to Reink but i didnt specify whether it was a weakness or an opportunity
