    Hi,

Can anyone guide me what to do with P3, This was my 3rd attempt. I got 42.

What is the issue ? I read the September-17 Examiners report. All the weaknesses that he mentioned in his report, none of them I performed in an exam or you may say that 15% weaknesses ??

How to pass ? I am fed up with this paper. Any brilliant idea. Kindly and please share with me.

If the tutor is here, please guide me.

I am self studying person and also a full time employee.

    Dear colleague,
I am in the same boat. I failed with a mark of 30, after that for two times I had fails of 48. My thought, just now, is to rise up and walk. But how to walk? Yes, we have to think of what was wrong in our preparation, what was wrong with our attitude, energy, enthusiasm, and of course hard work.
One of the things that frustrates me is that the ACCA, and the authorised revision kits, are significantly long, with a good purpose of educating us, of course. However, one of the training gaps I find is that we do not have enough guidance on how to answer this significantly time-pressured exam, and in the same time obtaining optimal marks.

I regret that I did not give you an answer. However, I am sharing my experience of P3, hoping that this would lead us to a pass finally.

Sorry to hear about your result.

I assume your P3 knowledge is complete so something must be wrong with your answer technique: time allocation, insufficient detail and too brief (10 marks should require about 1.25 pages of answer), describing theories rather than applying them to the scenario.

There are some worked questions on this site that are worth looking at if you haven’t yet:

    Dear Ken Garret,

I want to share with you how I am studying ?

    In first attempt I got 45 %
    In second attempt got 44%
In Third Attempt got 42% (as mentioned in previous comment)

I read all the models and I know how to apply. Like in the Sep-17 exam there was a question in section B from the project Management. It also described some part in that question which requires Mendelow Matrix. I applied to the scenario like for instance the particular stakeholder should be kept satisfied etc etc. So I am not those who use to mug up or cramming studies. I mean to say that I am not memorizing the matter by rote.

But I only use 2 to3 lines to explain the models etc. and directly going for an application because I assume the examiner also knows that this is a P3 professional paper and I assumed they need the clarification of models application only.

Is there any further guide can you give me from reading the above statement of mine.

    Thanks.

You seem to be doing the right things. What about time management? Do you attempt all patts of all questions? Do you write enough? You should write at least 1.25 pages per 10 marks.

If you haven’t done so already, look at our P3 revision lectures.

    Dear Ken

I normally completed my paper before 20 to 30 minutes of ending time ?

and I always attempt all parts of a question, I don’t leave any part of a question. I only say that in some parts I get stuck, but I don’t leave them empty because I write something that I may get a mark.

I remember that, In Q-2, they need the roles of a project sponsor like that ( if i am not mistaken), at that time i forgot little bit what to write about their roles. However, I wrote only 3 points but don’t know are they correct or not ? I think now you understand what I did mistake in that particular part of a question-2.

But as per your question, I didn’t write 1.25 pages for a 10 mark question, I only write maximum to maximum 1 page or half of the page.

    Dear Ken,

I need some information, Is it compulsory to write in detail about the specific model or

just 2 to 3 lines is enough for instance:

If the question clearly mentions “The contextual features of Hope Hailey and Balogun” Model, Then I will have to write 1 page to explain WHAT THE MODEL IS ABOUT ? or some paragraph is enough to explain the model and then proceed to apply to the scenario.
and Secondly, If applying to the scenario, how much pages should I write ? and what will be the tone of writing, for example:
Answer: As per the scenario, The XYZ (project sponsor) is the person that will not allow to to proceed for a change because he seems unhappy (as per scenario). “Is this a good tune of writing” ???

    Farasmuhd,

If you have 20 to 30 minutes left,at the end of the exam, you are not answering in enough detail. This is backed up by you saying that for 10 marks you might only write half a page. More is needed.

For your second question, you need no explanation at all of HH. Go straight to the application of the model. How much you write depends on marks available.

    Dear Ken,

Very much appreciated. Got a clarity. Thank you for the reply.

Just one thing more, (last question)

How to write an answer ?

Some suggests to write in 3rd person like He, She, It, They and also write in First Person like I, we. “Is this correct” ? Little confused.

That will not make much difference, but I would choose 3rd person.

    Hiya,
I have failed this paper twice and I would like to share my experiences on my third which was a successful attempt. I got 44 then 48 and a massive jump to 70m.
When i did the paper for the first time i never studied properly i just simply scan through the notes and scored 44 and the second attempt I tried harder even proper timing and all and still got 48, I was actually annoyed with myself for putting effort and failing the paper.
You know what I did for the third Attempt i just simply forgot that I have failed this paper twice and stdied like a Amateur from the start I’d never timed a single one for the third attempt I just felt Confident enough to pass.

Whenever I feel down , I always listen to those motivational Videos to pull my energy up, my advice to u guys once I was in the same boat its better u guys to form notes from the textbook and memorize those and further Do atleast 5 yrs of Revision kit Papers.
Thats it hope u guys get thru. I had been in this situ this worked for me, trust me 🙂
