    Dear Tutor,

Laural. you are correct. And even the differences between IFRS and UK GAAP are being eroded.

Have you realised that for F7 and for F8 the CCA no longer offer a UK variant and I imagine that it’s only a matter of a very short time before both P2 and P7 go the same way

Thank you Mike.Yes I realised that both F7 and F8 only have international variant now. Because I studied UK variant for F7 and F8, and I thought it’s better for me to get P2 and P7 done in the same way in order to get the signing of the report in the UK because the new rule published in 2011.
However, if the situation goes as you imagine, should I take the UK variant for these 2 papers or go straight to choose international instead? Could you pls give an advice? Is there any effects for the choice in the longrun?

I think the only matter to consider is whether you want a UK practising certificate in the future. If you do, then it’s P2 UK and P7 UK for you. It’s a pity because, in a matter of only a couple of years, the ACCA will (probably) scrap the UK variants but, until then …….

The notes on this site are certainly sufficient for Global options and for P2 as well as P7 they seem to be ok for the UK variants.

There really is little difference between the two.

If you look at a revision kit for P2 you’ll see alternative answers at the back suitable for the UK students. It’s only approximately 10 questions that have these alternative answers so, let’s be honest, it’s no big deal!

    Yeah…what a pity then……

So, first, if I take P2UK and P7 UK, does that mean I will be able to practice in UK as well as in other contries in the world?

Second, if only 10 questions differences in the revision kit, then I imagine it will only add a little bit on my work, am I right?

Another problem I am in China currently, it’s hard to get a UK revision kit……

    Hi

I can’t help you with the revision kit problem but, given that revision kits are substantially past exam questions, you can always download those from the links on this site

If you hold a UK practicing certificate you can practice in the UK

As to whether you could practice elsewhere depends upon local rules. For example you cannot practice in the USA – you can work there, but not sign off accounts. You would need to take the local tax and law papers to qualify locally.

That’s very much a generalization and will no doubt vary from one country to the next

    Hope that helps
