Hi,
I have passed F1-P1 and P3 by OT notes and lectures with help from Bpp study texts.
Can someone please let me know if the same approach sufficient to pass P2?
Some of my colleagues tell me that I MUST join a college for lectures etc.
Kindly advise.
Thanks.
February 10, 2014 at 9:51 am #157629I’ve been told the same by my friends i recently cleared my remaining two fundamentals and now I am confused about what subjects to take and whether to self study or take tuitions.
February 10, 2014 at 10:00 am #157636You should be able to pass with just OpenTuition and Study Texts (and Revision Kits).
There is certainly no requirement to join a college 🙂

February 10, 2014 at 11:46 am #157687Hi I am looking at purchasing a BPP revision kit for June 2014, and the date states June 2014 and ‘International & UK’, I have noticed the notes are for international will this revision kit be ok or is there another one i should get?
Thanks
JemmaFebruary 10, 2014 at 11:56 am #157690Hello,
Failed P2 this summer 44%, Only have P2 and the two option papers left.
I studied using only open tuition notes, video lectures and BPP revision book. I must admit that I did find P2 the most difficult so far, however I also failed F7 first time so it may just be me !!!
I believe that it is possible to pass just with the open tuition notes however I got my strategy wrong this time, I got bogged down with Cashflows, Consolidated I/S and SOFP and did not give enough time to the IFRS’s and IAS’s whch is Q2 and Q3 !!!!
Next time will focus much more on the IFRS and IAS and try to pick up the easy marks on Q1
All the bestFebruary 10, 2014 at 5:59 pm #157807Thanks for the info rooster. I also have p2 and options left. I also think that practice is key in this exam.
February 10, 2014 at 6:25 pm #157818Jemma, if it says June 2014 International and UK, what do you think? It should be ok for June 2014 International and UK – at least, that’s my guess
February 10, 2014 at 6:28 pm #157820icriosphinx, practice is the key to ALL these ACCA exams – that and exam technique
And then more practice.
In answer to your original question, some have used just OT course notes, lectures and a revision kit and passed. Others have used the same and not been so fortunate.
I believe that it comes down to individuals and how much effort they are prepared to put in.
And only you can address that issue
February 10, 2014 at 7:19 pm #157834Sorry what I meant was would the revision kit be compatible with the ot notes? As these are only international?
February 11, 2014 at 7:52 am #157930If you look inside a revision kit marked “International and UK” you’ll find that 10 or 12 answers are duplicated at the end of the answer section. Those duplicates are the answers for UK GAAP students. The main bulk of the answers are entirely International based
Is that better?
February 11, 2014 at 7:54 am #157931Thanks Mike! You are my favourite tutor! Even though my employer will pay for the fees if I do go to college but I feel it is up to me to make the effort as you said. I feel easier doing it my own way ie. OT with Bpp.
Also I have a bad habit of not practicing at all till the exam day. I’ll definitely start practicing this time.
btw I owe you a lot of credit for helping me earning a distinction in my earler exam.February 11, 2014 at 8:25 am #157939Well I’m pleased to have been associated with THAT success – well done.
I think the best I can honestly say, though, is that I didn’t prevent you from gaining that distinction 🙂
