I answered all 3 questions within time
September 9, 2015 at 9:19 pm #270904Hi, what did you say about improvement of internal controls in Question 1- what needed to be improved?
In Question 2 – what principles did the staff not follow when accepting bonuses for wrongly sold insurance premiums?
In question 2 also- what did you say about how the bonus package needed to changed and about the consequences of external auditor failure to report?
In question 3- Strategic and operational risks of company trying to expand to Geeland and management techniques? Thanks,
September 9, 2015 at 10:50 pm #270916Mark, there could be numerous internal controls improvements suggested, in my opinion such as improved reporting and disclosure to the stakeholders, setting SLAs in order to meet minimum expected of each service delivery to the users etc.
In question 2, i have mentioned five fundamental principles of code of ethics and included briefly threats to independence to highlight things like self interest but also professional competence and due care, behaviour etc.
Further in question 2, i put the main focus on commission being a small part of the reward and departments like compliance or training could ensure other things are considered to rewarding commission, amongst many – quality and compliance of the customer service through recordings or observations and providing training to ensure focus in culture on treating customers fairly and advising them of the appropriate product for their needs.
I have attempted question number four so can’t comment on question three.September 9, 2015 at 10:54 pm #270917Ganunoo1983, good time management. Although i constantly kept my eyes on the clock, i have failed to address one point in question four which will cost me few marks and finish off point d (i) in question 1 but hopefully did enough to pass. If i only had 15 more minutes! Generally, i think it was a reasonable and fair paper but again, time constraint is a big factor for many. I think reading the questions is a time consuming thing so, there should be no 15 minutes reading time but an extra half an hour added to the exam instead to make it 3.5 hrs allowing students to start writing from the very first second it starts.

Im confused! for the fundamental principles they related to the ‘conduct of the employees’ s so I put down (Objectivity, Integrity etc.) should this have been the UK govenance main principles????? (i.e Leadership, effectiveness etc.)
September 10, 2015 at 12:12 pm #271019Kimmi, I have made the same assumption and focused on code of ethics. I believe, since the question was not specifically referring, if we supported our answers, we should be okay.
September 10, 2015 at 1:26 pm #271033Exam Invigilators were shocking at Kensington Olympia, as were the facilities. No water dispensers, freezing temperature, and the exam started 15 minutes late! Never seen that before, anywhere!

Exam starting at 10.15 so they could hand out the exam papers which wasn’t the best preparation to be honest. As for keeping us back for an additional 20 minutes so they could count the scripts was just bewildering.
Nearly had a riot on their hands when they refused to let people leave the hall after the exam to go to the loo. Told everybody to sit still and not to chat, the worst invigilation I have witnessed at an ACCA exam.
September 10, 2015 at 3:22 pm #271061It was more than bizarre, it was ridiculous and unacceptable at this level. Although I feel I have done more than enough to pass the exam I have lodged a formal complaint and would recommend that anyone else who experienced the same should do so as well.
We pay good money for studying for and sitting these exams, as well as a lot of time, and should not have to put up with sub-standard invigilators and poor facilities that can impact on some students ability to perform. If nothing else it will hopefully result in an improved level of service and none of our fellow ACCA students will have to face such circumstances.
It could all have been avoided just by keeping us informed as to what happened and why. It was also ironic that it happened in an exam that involves internal controls and risk management!! hahaha
September 10, 2015 at 3:59 pm #271077Faruqacca, i have. Although, unfortunately didnt make to the end of the question, skipping the whole point b due to lack of time.
September 10, 2015 at 10:41 pm #271152I can understand the temperature always never right, nor the toilets being in great condition.
However, as a student sitting an exam, you should be well prepared with bringing your own water. Other exam halls do not supply this and I think it is unnecessary and also causes disruptions to other people. You would not come to an exam without a pen, so why would you sit a 3 hour exam without bringing water.
With the counting of the scripts, it is an ACCA requirement, they scripts should have actually all been accounted for, boxed up and it should have left the room before any student even so much as gets up to leave the room.
Especially with the way everyone rushes to get up and stampedes to get out the hall.Just giving a different perspective as to the causes of your frustrations. Not everything should be a given.

Hi guys the p1 paper asks not only knowledge but lots of self-application.
But did someone find an answer for the insurance cover being more ethical, found in question 2,i think?
It may be an absurdity but i answered that the bank could advertise in the newspaper etc
or to make it appear in a sort of package but it sounds confusing….but its clearly a lack of integrity and professional behaviour.September 11, 2015 at 3:03 pm #271302Others were sitting F5 (I think) and during our 15 minutes reading time the staff made an announcement about an error in their paper – this was totally disruptive of the reading time and they were not silent until the start time!
Did this happen everywhere – i sat it in EdinburghRan out of time as I strongly believe my reading time did not begin until 10.15am
Didnt finish the paper – third sitting! 🙁
September 13, 2015 at 5:24 pm #271637I have taken exams in several centres, Excel included. I would not comment otherwise.
Just be prepared, and only worry about the exam. Exams are ruined and disrupted by a few students who do not take it seriously, expecting everything to be given to them or just too impatient. You are there to achieve a professional qualification, and should be acting like a professional.
October 11, 2015 at 5:19 pm #275883hi,can share the topic examined in sep 15 sitting? thanks
