P1 was an okay paper but required a lot of information to answer the questions.
June 10, 2015 at 4:11 pm #256067very lengthy paper but at the same time a bit easier than previous sittings. there were lots of repetitions particularly in the role of audit committe and chairman
June 10, 2015 at 4:35 pm #256094It was an easy paper actually, very direct questions, but, too lengthy,
For those of u who answered the 4th question, what was the CMD Ethical stance there ??
& for Q2 whoever attempted, in CSR strategy and strategic CSR it was for 10 marks, meaning 5 relevant points… could not get as many points for that questions, answered it, but not to the full..
I read the technical articles but i just could get 3-4 points on that…
June 10, 2015 at 5:15 pm #256113Time consuming but fair paper.
June 10, 2015 at 5:23 pm #256118I wrote that the moral responce was post conventional as the manger responded what was ethically right and doesn’t follow the orders and intrustions even breached her employment contract…

June 10, 2015 at 5:27 pm #256122A better paper for me. Hopefully the results will reflect this.

I put post-conventional, principled conscience, because she made her choice even though she was probably aware it would end in harm to her (I.e. Losing her job)
June 10, 2015 at 5:29 pm #256125I did the same post conventional. Very lengthy paper felt extremely rushed not enough time just to think what to write and how to write it lol. Probably failed this paper
June 10, 2015 at 5:30 pm #256126I also said post-conventional, stage 6, as it involved a personal cost (losing her job) and she thought that others had a right to know.

post conventional i reckon
June 10, 2015 at 5:33 pm #256130I thought the paper was ok and probably quiet a good one to come up but sadly I was completely unprepared for this exam which is my own fault for lack of studying. Feeling very frustrated that I didn’t put as much effort in as I think with just so much of a real effort on my part would have achieved a pass…. resit in September for me, oh well at least I don’t have to wait till December!

Could have been an ‘Okay’ paper had I been better prepared but still I found that it was very much lengthy! :/For CMD I analysed Conventional as it was about howthe society would perceive it would be (if I got this right) What about you @Bill the butcher?
Anyway! I know it’s a definite resit for me in September. First Level 3 Paper and it was definitely not a good one! 🙁
This paper definitely served me a lifelong lesson!no if it was conventional she would had followed norms principles and values of her ‘work place’ i.e she wouldnt had told the newspaper or whatever it was BUT since she did NOT keep mum about what was happening, post conventional cmd was being demonstrated as she viewed the dilemma from universally accepted ethical and personally developed ethical guidelines , but that is just my answer

I hope I answered the rest correctly 😀
June 10, 2015 at 5:58 pm #256141I felt like I repeated myself a lot on this paper, putting the same things in a number of answers to different questions
June 10, 2015 at 6:10 pm #256146yes repetitions were there in question 1 and question 3. in question one there was a lot about chairman role in two different questions plus the whistle blowing of audit committe.
June 10, 2015 at 6:27 pm #256151Questions weren’t too bad… but I found a lot of it required using the scenario and common sense to answer, they were asking for a lot of marks in areas where the knowledge just wouldn’t have filled the answer. Time pressured too… but that’s my fault for overrunning trying to get the professional marks in Q1! Hope everyone did ok 🙂

How do you do a magazine article!?
I don’t like my chances of getting any professional marks…
June 10, 2015 at 6:58 pm #256160I found the paper quite good. It was long, I’m happy I was so anal about time management as I only just finished.
For a magazine article I wrote something like:
Lysus – A failure of corporate governance.
Most of our readers will be very familiar with the recent scandal at Lysus. The company is owned and managed by the Mara family…….. (brief summary of what happened).
The question now is, what can we learn from Lysus and how can we prevent such failures in the future?
Then I addressed bi) and bii)
Conclusion.
Lysus is undoubtedly a failure of corporate governance and risk management and there are lessons we can learn from its failure to ensure safety for patients and continuity of our corporations.June 10, 2015 at 7:02 pm #256162Anonymous

Wow, that’s good!
Much better than mine!
Hope I made enough marks elsewhere…
June 10, 2015 at 7:05 pm #256163does anyone felt that there were repetitive arguments in relation to separation of roles (chair/ceo) in question one section a and d
June 10, 2015 at 7:13 pm #256165I thought part a asked how corporate governance would have helped in this situation, having an independent chairman is just one point. I didn’t see a need to go into detail about why an independent chairman was necessary. Other points included NEDs, committees, dialogue with shareholders, etc.
I think part d was specifically asking about the advantages of having an independent chairman as opposed to it being the CEO.
June 10, 2015 at 7:18 pm #256166I worked with post conventional :s

I tried to avoid it, think I may have repeated one or two points though…
In a), a listed company would have NEDS in place to challenge strategy.
In d), an independent Chairman would have helped by challenging strategy…
No?
