Passed
February 19, 2013 at 10:26 am #118227Passed P1 56 marks first attempt…am happy. Prepared this subject in only 3 weeks and didnt complete few parts of some questions…Thank U God….
February 19, 2013 at 1:01 pm #118234i got 62 in first attempt, and didn’t expect that much marks, when preparing i just jog down points without writing lengthy answer for past papers . Think its more about quality of the stuff you write rather than content.
(eg – if writing for 10 mark questions – 5 points with brief explanation. )
also check online for guesses about questions before exams, it has worked for me…February 20, 2013 at 9:37 am #118308Anonymous

i just read the examiners report for dec 2012 he said the use of the TARA model for analyzing strategic risks was incorrect and scored low marks – i thought TARA was a generic model for analyzing risks in any situation – it was part of the syllabus so why were we penalized by the examiner for using this and what was the alternative to use? TARA cost me the couple of marks i needed to pass

March 2, 2013 at 1:08 pm #119004Hi guys, I took the P1 last December for the first time and passed with 63. Only did 2.5 questions for want of time, but could have easily handed all questions set. I believe the trick to passing this paper is simple. Technical knowledge, whilst bolsters confidence isn’t enough.
You have to:
A. Know your soft, medium and hard verbs in order to determine how much you write;
B. you have to kept abreast with the latest news, for example – the current issues with bankers bonuses; ethical issues relating to PPI and horse meat sales; EU proposal to cap bonuses; police corruption as seen in South Africa vis a vis professionalism; UBS scandal in relation to embedded risk, the lack thereof, etc. These are just examples on how risks and ethical issues surrounds our everyday being. Read wide and relate life examples to questions – in addition to the names given in the scenario to show you have read the question and not just delivering what you have read in your textbooks.
C. Kept your answer straight to the point.Hope this helps.
