I appeared for the first time in an ACCA exam. I read about the ball pen thing and i just purchased one before going to exams. The paper went reasonably fina but i have just found that the pen i used pen was infact a gel pen. Now what will happen, it was such a precious money and time commitment for me. π
Is there any solution , can i write to acca requesting them to forgive this mistake for this time only. Please help

I also wrote Q1 c in journalist style like what we read in megazines and i believe that is what the professional marks were for.

They already announced we shouldn’t use gell pen. Still i don’t think it will make huge difference. Just write to ACCA UK. π

Aziq, I have also written using gel pen for my P1 & P2 paper. I stupidly think both are the same.It is also my first exam after leaving ACCA for many years. I got so worried, I have written to ACCA this morning but no reply until now.
I feel like strangling myself!!December 13, 2012 at 1:26 pm #111297Anonymous

Seriously now that you are saying …I too used a “gel pen” I mean gel pens are BALL POINT PENS too…They should be clearer I think.
December 13, 2012 at 4:02 pm #111301The term “social footprint” thing threw me. Is that anywhere in the BPP book? I couuldn’t see it.
I ended up rambling about environmental footprint. So…. I’m guessing I have lost all four (?) marks for that?
Also, for the professional marks, I completely forgot it was article they asked for (stupid I know) until half way through writing the answer.
So…. on the previous page I squeezed into the bottom, a title, authors name, introduction, etc. Obviously layout and stuff was sequeezed and on a different page. Do u think I will get any marks for that at all?
Thanks

@ keyboard: your response relaxed me a bit, i hope my result is same as yours thats a pass. However, if you say basis your link provided then its kind of confusing because it says that examin invigilator gave him his pen.
To be more specific and clear my understanding, i used the pen name “uni-ball Signo” on the top some where it says 0.7 also, request your favor if you could verify by Google if i clearly understand its a gel pen.

Paper was fair, as always time was not enough.
I think I forgot to tick in the boxes of the questions I attempted. Shall I write to the acca exam administration? Did you gues face this problem before? How did you handle it?
Thanks a lot & best of luck to everyone.December 13, 2012 at 10:30 pm #111304Anonymous

December 14, 2012 at 1:33 pm #111310Thanks for providing link to question paper.
When do the answers get published? Would this be after the results are announced?
Thanks
December 15, 2012 at 10:42 am #111311Was anyone elses paper missprinted??? Mine was and i only realised at the end of the reading time, i asked the invidulator for another question paper to which she said yes but i will have to take yours off you……. erm no it had all my notes from the other questions on it and im sure you would all agree that would waste allot of marks and time, as if this isnt time pressured enough.
She said she would go and find out and come back to me and she forgot so i just started on another question while i waited. in the end i asked someone else and they just give me another so i had to work from two πIf anyone else has had anyproblems with this you need to get intouch wilth ACCA as they are aware of this already and are taking it into consideration when marking. You dont know maybe if your at 48 or 49 it may just push you to a pass.
Other than that i think it was a very fair paper. Fingers crossed for everyone for februaury.
Merry Christmas
