Understanding + common sense for application….but it’s too much to “explain”
or “define” question….. A bit of worry….December 12, 2012 at 3:55 pm #111266Anonymous

Found it fair … 3rd time sitting this paper… Can’t seem to pull the info together… Hope I did enough this time ….
December 12, 2012 at 5:07 pm #111268I do not feel confident that I passed.
Time was a big problem – you need to read the question carefully first and think what to write…… I did not think it was easy although it was not difficult.
And then your mind is full of knowledge but it goes blank in the exam hall…
But I am sure I will have to resit it in June – not confident. We shall see. We can only do our best.
December 12, 2012 at 5:39 pm #111269I would say a fair and well divided to cover the topics. I studied only for 4 days in total and expecting more than 60%. Fingers Crossed!
December 12, 2012 at 5:43 pm #111270Time is a big concern. Time should be looked at again. It seems to me that
we need more time, 31/2 hours will not be bad.December 12, 2012 at 5:43 pm #111271plz highlight the diffrence in q4 part b nd c
my answer was more or less sameDecember 12, 2012 at 5:47 pm #111272Anonymous

Time was definitely an issue, Paper was fair though…Not sure if I’ll pass, crossing fingers though.
December 12, 2012 at 5:55 pm #111273I tning that PI paper covered
Q1 – Social Footprint, Risk Diversification, Professional Code of Ethics, Subjective and Operational Risk, Internal Control Board responsibilities
Q2 – Corporate Governance, Accountability, Rules and Principles Based
Q4 – Tucker Model, Stakeholder Theory, Stakeholder Importance
December 12, 2012 at 6:02 pm #111274Time problems. Actually fair enough content wise, but could not get finished and rushed the parts of Q1 I did get done, losing out on valuable easy points by being vague etc and not including key terms. Honestly cannot write any faster and did not see anyway of cutting corners on Q3 or Q4. 🙁 Hoping to scrape a pass.

If only time was my problem, I had no time to study.
December 12, 2012 at 6:49 pm #111276I also struggled with time management but hope I did enough on each question to pass.
Reasonably strong on Q2, I think. Q4 a bit of a rush but parts a and c seemed ok.
Sadly I wrote in really cringey sensational style in the journalist part of Q1 – more Daily Mail than serious investor magazine! Oh dear!December 12, 2012 at 6:54 pm #111277Anonymous

Que 1 little bit tricky but 2 and 4 were easy. 4 importance of recognising stakeholder. did any one mention about mandelow in this question?
December 12, 2012 at 6:56 pm #111278My question paper was poorly printed too, could not read about couple of lines. Did not have a time to look for an another copy, was already under time pressure. Questions did not seem difficult but i needed more time to read questions itself. So i was short of time.
December 12, 2012 at 7:06 pm #111279It looks like time management was an issue with most of us!
I think Mendelow is more of a mapping/framework system used to recongise stakeholders power/influence rather than the importance of stakeholders. I mentioned more the way how they affect and can be affected by them…..
December 12, 2012 at 8:01 pm #111280Time was a limiting factor. Overall it was a very lengthy but fair paper. You needed to have known the subject well to pass this paper. 50% shouldn’t be such a trouble to get. But again, it’s an ACCA exam. Anything can happen.

Joevassallo I share your comments. Generally the questions were familiar to everyone but questions were framed in awkward ways. I don’t know why ACCA give the impression you are answering 3 questions when in actual fact when you count the sub-questions you are answering 12 questions and each is well loaded and require a lot. Does the examiner actually try if the paper can be answered in 3 hours? I am aware speed and accuracy are needed to pass, but by setting questions in this way prevents people who could have been good accountants.
Yes the question paper was badly printed and almost illegible.
I see my result in the 40% range.December 12, 2012 at 9:02 pm #111282Anonymous

I thought I was taking an accountancy qualification until getting to P1.
Q1 part (d) was ridiculous and a lot of people afterwards commented on how framing it as writing a magazine article distracted from the actual comparison of the points that were being tested. A more appropriate question would have been reporting to a shareholder who had read an article on the leaked info.

Paper was fair, as always time was not enough.
I think I forgot to tick in the boxes of the questions I attempted. Shall I write to the acca exam administration? Did you gues face this problem before? How did you handle it?
Thanks a lot & best of luck to everyone.December 12, 2012 at 9:21 pm #111284Anonymous

Paper was ok. Not too difficult at all. I just ran out of time like almost everyone else. Time got the best of me this time around again 🙁

The paper was very fair…time was a serious issue for me. Got carried away writing 2 and 3..by the time they announced 1 hour to go I panicked. Tried to attempt question 1 but gosh with a 1 and half pages scenario , 50 points to write in an hour even a robot or an angel from heaven wouldn’t have managed. …gosh, a gal can only do so much. I guess I have to start practicing time management now.

I found the exam quite fair. Some parts of the question could be answered solely from F8 knowledge (I took both exams and spent 3 days preparing for P1). Also ran out of time, so completed about 85% of the paper… fingers crossed.
What happens if I forgot to highlight the question number at the top of the page (those little rounds) and at the front page? I did write each question number by hand, but didn’t highlight… 🙂December 12, 2012 at 9:38 pm #111287Maggs u r so funny…d paper was easy like last diet….I guess I lacked d tactics for answering professional levels papers last diet…hoping for a pass dz time.
December 12, 2012 at 11:06 pm #111288@ Zacharjojo – I agree with you as well. Actually there are more questions then you think even with the subdivisions.
If you look at all questions with sub questions they all include “Define…. and explain” or “Describe….. and explain”…
So in effect I make a total of approx 30 answers that you need to write about.
Anyway I think 3.5 hours would reflect a better time scenario to think, plan your answers and then say what you think should be the correct answer.
Good luck to all.December 13, 2012 at 4:00 am #111289we were awarded 5 extra minutes due to power failure … 😀
