Is it fair to call Outsourcing, a Business Process Redesign. BPR sounds like something internal to the organisation while outsourcing is exactly opposite of this. On the other hand, outsourcing can be said to be ‘Fundamental’ and ‘Radical’ change for an organisation, which are features of BPR.
It could be. There is no reason why outsourcing cannot be regarded as a redesign of a business process – rather radical though it is. So can the reverse change. For example, Apple is changing from using Intel microprocessors to components it makes itself.
