When in the question, no details regarding spot rate on transaction date is given in options, is rate of forward contract on the date of transaction a good assumption?
Because in the practise questions, current spot rate is also used for futures gain loss on sale.
No it is not an assumption you should make.
You should calculate the worst outcome if options are being used.
With futures we only use the current spot rate to calculate the basis in order that we can then calculate the lock-in rate to apply.
