Hi Trephena,
I finally passed on my second attempt. Thanks Trephena for your advises and entire OBU forum team.
so happy !!!March 25, 2016 at 4:20 am #308155Thanks for the reply, i have chosen a mentor and read the pack 3 times. I have a question in connection with the next submission period, the change, persons choosing topic 8 would they have to choose from the suggested industry or they are free to choose there own companies?
March 25, 2016 at 8:01 am #308163@kann23 – We have specific forum topics for these so please read those as you may find that your questions have already been answered there (and then post your particular queries on the relevant forum topic as this one is supposed to be about the P31 student results).
For Topic 8 or 15 you MUST choose a company from one of the 3 prescribed sectors unless you are resubmitting a previously failed Topic 8 where you are allowed to use the same company you were failed on. I have set up a specific forum topic for Airlines as kellann above said she found my advice helped her achieve a grade A for her RAP (and I worked in the airline industry for 8+ years)
March 25, 2016 at 12:54 pm #308270I made it and was awarded an upper second class honours. Thank God for this. I also want to thank you #Trephena for all your advice and support. It was of great help. Thanks again.
March 25, 2016 at 3:59 pm #308289This was my first attempt at the RAP and I was procrastinating on it due to my work commitments. I had to rush it in the last few days. I achieved a pass, I guess I am really lucky.
All I can say to those who are going to submit this time around:
1. read the info pack,
2. have a clear research objectives/statements,
3. take notes (research diary) as you prepare report as it’ll help you write SLS,
4. have a good mentor who can correct you before you go too off the path.I want to thank my mentor, Ali Farooq, for all the feedback he provided, it helped me correct mistakes and get the report in shape within the word limit.
March 25, 2016 at 5:57 pm #308302Passed my project. Thanks to my mentor Ali Farooq. he is the best. It was a bit difficult for me in the beginning as i was away from studies because of my job but my mentor helped me in every stage and guided me properly. I will recommend all new students to take mentoring from Sir Ali Farooq.
March 27, 2016 at 6:35 pm #308413I passed my Research and Analysis Project. Thanking Opentuition for all the advice and help their site offers to ACCA students and also for recommending the Learning Luminarium. Their mentors are highly professional. Mr. Irwin TLL was great to deal with and he put me on to Ms. Susanna Loh. She was highly competent and professional.
March 29, 2016 at 6:44 pm #308626I did not make it . Comment from marker is mostly told me that the reference is wrong then I read my RAP again but everything to me is clearly reference, even my mentor from LSBF singapore told me to submit then I feel confidence however I quite surprise that i received reference problem from marker which I believe one of my RAP strength I so sad. I think I need to look for new mentor with better reference skill. Many people in this forum recommend Learning Luminarium which abit expensive however if they really can point out what i do wrong in my RAP ill pay for it. My question is do they really read and point out what I need to change or fix ? or just look at $$$ and sign off in the end without any checking.
March 29, 2016 at 8:24 pm #308637@johntran93 – The Learning Luminarium will read and constructively criticise your work- they earn their fee and their reputation and are highly recommended by students.
By reading our Open Tuition Ultimate Guide to Referencing your RAP and applying the information and having a TLL mentor you will certainly very greatly increase your chances of being successful next time you submit.

Alhamdulillah I have completed my OBU with ACCA. I dedicate this message to BSc Online Mentoring done by Ali Farooq. I must mention how crucial his help and support was and I really appreciate it. His willingness to help students to succeed is definitely praiseworthy and how he always tries to find time to guide and advise. Ali Farooq is a registered mentor who I believe is terrific in his mentoring role!
April 3, 2016 at 8:27 pm #308922I am very delighted I passed the OBU RAP first time with The Learning Luminarium.
Prior to taking the courage to do it, I had almost completely given up on doing the RAP because I had no idea of where and how to start. When I saw Trephena’s recommendation of the Learning Luminarium, I decided to give it a try. After my first meeting with my mentor (Mr Adrian Tan) most of my doubts were clarified, then I was very eager to start.
I just want to advice anyone in doubts about taking the RAP to contact The Learning Luminarium and you will realize that what you thought was impossible is very possible. They have really really experienced mentors.
Best wishes,
PrinceApril 8, 2016 at 12:40 pm #309309I understand the situation that my result is deffer but I want to know that Is it possible that I myself can check my RAP on Turnitin website. I did it myself there is no doubt in it. I am very much frustated and as I am doing full-time internship cant focus at my office because of it. Please advice me what t do.
April 9, 2016 at 1:18 am #309339You will need to see what the ACO investigation uncovers. Their investigations and evidence do not always rely exclusively on Turnitin but they will probably send you a copy of the report anyway. There is no way they will just accept your comment that you did all the work yourself and dismiss your case until they are satisfied that the evidence is consistent with this.
April 9, 2016 at 6:34 am #309342@trephena Thankyou for the reply, now there is some release of stress, I really appreciate it. I can provide evidence and I will fully co-operate, as a audit trainee I learned that always have copy of your work in printed form so all my project is in printed form from the start. When I started this project I make a lot of mistakes and I always took print every time I work on it.
April 9, 2016 at 8:31 am #309344That’s good as assisting the ACO as much as possible will probably (a) speed things up and (b) help build up a case that supports your innocence. The comparison with an audit is a good one – you might find suspicious transactions during an audit so you would be duty bound to investigate further. You would then examine as much evidence that either meant the suspicions were well grounded or that they have given the impression that something was wrong when it wasn’t. That is exactly what an ACO case is about -establishing facts and finding evidence that means the right conclusion can be drawn.
April 9, 2016 at 8:39 am #309345We have a forum topic dealing with deferred results which you and any other deferred student might find helpful:
https://opentuition.com/topic/results-withheld-deferred/
I also wrote a brief article on the ACO which is on our homepage http://www.opentuition.com/obu
April 9, 2016 at 9:09 am #309369@trephena OK! I got it. I already read all your articals and comments regarding OBU, P31 and ACO, They are very helpful.
Thank you for the help.April 16, 2016 at 1:50 pm #310357Passed on first attempt….grade A…First class!!!!…
May 5, 2016 at 4:13 am #313739Is there any student who passes with A or B with T8 Aviation and willing to contact me please?
May 5, 2016 at 11:19 am #313793I trust you are not expecting them to share their work with you as this is against the OBU rules and could end up with both of you being referred to the Academic Conduct Office?

My mentor asked money to write my project.
April 29, 2017 at 12:07 am #384260Please do not use this person as they obviously lack integrity (in fact you should report this mentor to the ACCA OBU office).
Although it may be tempting to get someone else to do your work you will be missing out on any sense of achievement that knowing through your own hard work and efforts you have achieved an honours degree. Think: how would your family feel if you ‘bought’ a degree compared with the real pride that they would have in knowing you had worked hard and accomplished something through your own efforts?
There are also penalties if you are caught – you would automatically be given a zero grade (every section is failed) and if you want to resubmit a fee of GBP 550 is imposed.
Even those who have the degree can have it taken away if it comes to light that they did not do the work – I have been told that there have been several cases recently where students have been told that the Academic Conduct Office is intending to have their degrees rescinded. Imagine the shame of these students having to explain this situation to their family. It does not stop there for if an employer wants confirmation of the degree they also will be told the award was not valid and withdrawn. Also ACCA is informed of such cases. It really is not worth cheating (because that is what buying a RAP is )
