@gene. Thanks a lot. Will try this out, do you suggegst anyone else if not her? LL is way too expensive for me.
March 23, 2016 at 10:35 am #307936@trephena and @ Gene is there anyone else offering mentor ship at a cheaper rate. Mine is just resubmission. I checked for Anna and its GBP 450 which is very expense also. considering that i have to pay for resubmission too. My project is already done, if someone can just review and help me with the points or areas to be fixed suggested by the marker. It would be enough.

Hi Trephena; I feel very discouraged and feel like giving up.
This is my second attempt but i was awarded a failed grade;
The first time my results were referred ACO and i was advised to take a different topic and case study.
So i did as they said and this time around submitted chapter 13 and i worked very hard to get a pass but i was not awarded a pass.
Here is the moderators last comment
“You have obviously put a lot of effort into this project. You have the basis of a pass project but will need to remove some of the detailed analysis of compensation systems and replace it with more analysis of other important HR activities”other comments
1.
The business models you have selected aren’t sufficiently relevant to Topic 13. Your objectives 2. and 3. require a review of the main HR activities, which would normally be HR planning, recruitment and selection, training and development, and reward systems management. Your questionnaire covers most of these topics but your discussion of business models in Part 2 of the report doesn’t. Force field analysis could be applicable if you considered a wider range of factors influencing staff retention. The ‘Likert Scale’ isn’t a business model.2.
You have applied your business models in the design of your questionnaire but the analysis of the research findings needs at least some of the business models referred to in 1. above.3.
To strengthen the analysis and evaluation, you must apply business models to the analysis and evaluation of information gathered from your primary and secondary sources of information . As explained below in Section 6 below, you need to include more secondary data on a wider range of HR activities for this topic.4.
You will need to collect more secondary data on the HR policies and practices of the organisation you are studying. Also much more referencing of theory is needed in the analysis of your research findings (Section 3.2)The only thing i can think of now is crying and how hurting the results are.
But i really need help now since i have just one last attempt
March 23, 2016 at 10:58 am #307944@rebecca2 and @chickcynthia -I shall respond later today as you need more detailed replies.
@ashwinacca – As it is a resubmission depending on how much work may be involved (i.e. how badly it failed) you may be able to negotiate a lower fee with the Learning Luminarium. I think Hammad Ahmed Qureshi is possibly cheaper than both them and Anna but I am not sure of his fees. He is not so experienced as TLL but on a level with Anna and he has a growing reputation and may be ideal for you in terms of a limited budget but reasonable quality, reputation and good technical skills (I have checked him out)TLL offers a stellar product which is why we endorse them. I believe their 2 mentor system is: 1 mentor mentors the student and the 2nd also reviews the work thus ensuring it has had 2 critical appraisals before submission -which may warrant their fees which start at about USD 615. Don’t forget if you fail the OBU resubmission fee is about USD 300 so shelling out for a good mentor can sometimes be more cost effective (as well as being less hassle!)

Thank you Trephena, I appreciate your help and response when you have more time. My project was on Topic 8 and I used airlines. To clarify an example from the feedback; in my ratio analysis I commented for one airline revenue per seat had increased by £x and this was due to introduction of allocated seating. I did not reference a journal station allocated seating had been introduced as i had firstly referenced this in my SWOT and secondly this comment was actually stated in the annual statements. However the marker says I relied too much on the annual statements (only within ratio analysis/the business model analysis was fine) and that I should have included journal/article citation about allocated seating again in my ratio analysis.
March 23, 2016 at 11:33 am #307950Dear @ChickCynthia I know exactly how u feel as I was in that state last year. With just one chance left to achieve a pass, I was devasted and cried all thru.
That’s why I contacted The learning Luminarium and today my result is a pass. The fees may be high but u will get value for money.
March 23, 2016 at 12:06 pm #307954I passed my RAP thanks to the Almighty and OT

Thanks unyimeedem . I will have to try that. Waiting on detail reply from Trephena
March 23, 2016 at 1:59 pm #307968@Gene – you make some valid points. There is nothing in the OBU rules about only having one mentor. Failed students often change mentors as they believe that a new pair of eyes and different opinion can help increase the objectivity of their work. It only becomes a problem if the mentor takes too much control as it would then cease to be the student’s work and really the mentor’s.
In fact I suppose that in some respects I act as a virtual second mentor -although I never actually see the student’s work. However I am concerned this session that one student who got an A may have possibly achieved this because of my suggestions so this is a personal cause of concern to me. However apart from the possible sense of achievement (particularly if the work is more or less based on all the student’s own efforts) a grade A does not impact much on the actual class of degree, which as you no doubt recognise is primarily based on average exam marks.
March 23, 2016 at 2:34 pm #307978at last i pass!
March 23, 2016 at 2:37 pm #307979Thank you Lord .passed with a C but recieved a first class
March 23, 2016 at 4:07 pm #307992@Vincent – Proves my point – when it comes to the honours classification it’s exam grades that count most! 🙂
March 23, 2016 at 4:28 pm #307994@rebecca2 – it does sound as if you had a hard marker 🙁 – although without seeing your report this can only be a generalisation. In academic work it is normal to repeat the referencing each and every time BUT this is usually slightly relaxed in the RAP. By that I mean if you had referenced it in the SWOT & PESTLE you hadn’t totally ignored it and possibly the marker should have taken this into consideration. Normally markers give one example of something and then say something like “this is just one instance but there were several other instances of this….” If this is the case then try to see how many times you may have missed a reference (according to their way of thinking) and check whether you have adequately referenced your SWOT & PESTLE AND everything is in the ref list.
The assessment criteria regarding referencing for a pass (competence) is:
– Clear evidence of a range of relevant information sources.
– Clear evidence of correct referencing methodologyand for a fail:
– Very few and / or irrelevant information sources used.
– Referencing is mostly absent or unsystematic. If this is ONLY reason you failed AND you have demonstrated a range of sources, particularly in the business analysis and your ref list demonstrates this, it might be worth requesting a review / appeal
If there are other reasons given for your fail (poor evaluation etc) then you will have to accept that you are unlikely to succeed with an appeal as the referencing was probably incidental i.e. the marker had already failed you but thought your referencing was borderline and needed improving. The logic (so I am told) is that if a student has failed then markers will point out other areas of weaknesses on the basis that as the student will be resubmitting anyway they could and should improve the things that were marginal.
March 23, 2016 at 4:29 pm #307995@chickcynthia – I will send you a PM shortly

Hi Trephena, many thanks for your detailed reply. I have just sent a PM to you also when you have the time to read and respond instead of clogging up this thread for others who may also require help or advice. Thank you 🙂
March 23, 2016 at 6:34 pm #308006Passed first attempt! Super chuffed!
March 24, 2016 at 12:29 am #308043Hi Gene, as highlighted by Trephena, you will work with one mentor on a one to one basis. At the conclusion of the mentorship, the project is directed to a second mentor for review. We do this to ensure that the project does not commit any of the common reasons for failure which may have been missed out by the mentor of the student.
The current platform for mentorship allows us to record all meetings as well. These are provided to our students of the platinum plan which is extremely useful when writing your SLS or to review the salient learning points of the meeting. All scribbles on the whiteboard will also be captured on the recording.
As part of our internal controls, our principal mentor reviews the recordings to ensure that the meeting meets the standards set by TLL. This ensures that you or any other student will always receive quality mentorship!

AdrianMarch 24, 2016 at 1:02 am #308046Dear Trephena,
I hope all is well with you! Thank you very much for all your help and time, without your advice I would never have passed …with a grade A ??..I was so excited this morning.
Best Regards,
Kell AnnMarch 24, 2016 at 7:31 am #308069Thank you so much for your feedback @kellann. Well done!
Your comments are particularly useful as I believe you submitted a RAP on an airline. As airlines are one of the mandatory sectors for P32 I shall revisit our exchange of posts and move them to a new forum topic I have created specifically for airlines so that other students may benefit from them (I am sure you won’t mind?!)
In the meantime many congratulations and enjoy your success!
