March 21, 2023 at 9:20 pm #681619did you receive any email or logged in to the oxford brooks website?

March 22, 2023 at 7:25 am #681634Failed aswell, did topic 5 so will see what feedback is given
March 22, 2023 at 8:47 am #681639My case has been sent to Academic Conduct Officer (ACO) for further investigation.
What does this means? Am i failed or passed?March 22, 2023 at 8:58 am #681646ACO – it means that your result is deferred pending further investigation.
Your report / presentation slide and/or SLS most likely showed too many similarities with another student’s work [past or present] and indicated some collusion / copying / plagiarism. Alternatively its content or style caused the marker to question whether it had been written by you [or the mentor / an academic paper writing service].
They will contact you in time to discuss and after then they will let you know the outcome and result.
March 22, 2023 at 9:14 am #681648My project has been sent to the ACO. Don’t know if thats a bad thing or not. Now I am more nervous.
If anyone knows anything about it please let me know.
Thank you to the one guy who explained it.
And thanks to anyone who helps out.
Lastly, congratulations to everyone who passed!
March 22, 2023 at 9:15 am #681649Same here.
I am definitely more worried now
March 22, 2023 at 9:53 am #681652Did you directly copy and paste the contents of any external sources or projects of former OBU students into your RAP without paraphrasing the contents and making relevant citations? If so, the similarity rate arising after the paper being checked by turnitin is likely to be signiciantly high, giving a red flag for a potential plagiarism.
Be prepared to explain yourself and provide any necessary documentation proving that the work is original and authentic and completely your own work.
March 22, 2023 at 8:32 pm #681669Passed with a B grade first time around. Kind of a happy because I did the assignment in a very small period of time.
Replying to other people: It is definitely bad if your report has been sent to ACO. It means there will be investigation about whether your report is original.
March 22, 2023 at 11:38 pm #681673I failed and my mentor can not believe that.
March 23, 2023 at 4:11 am #681676I Received a email saying i failed to meet the standards in the research proposal and they never mentioned the skills and learning statement which i submitted .Kindly advise why they are not mentioning it.

March 29, 2023 at 10:21 am #681994Hi everyone,
I failed with topic 13 at the P45 submission. The feedback I received was very brief, short and lacking in detail. I guess I could copy and paste the feedback here, however I would imagine that OBU would frown upon that. The gist of it is that my referencing was not up to scratch.
I accept that I did not make the cut. However, the feedback I received did little more than point out to me which section or aspect of my RAP needs improvement. The difficulty I have now is that I do not understand specifically what the marker saw an issue with. In preparing my submission, I was very careful to study all the relevant guidance videos provided by OBU on YouTube, and I carefully studied the assessment criteria etc. contained in the information pack. I was diligent with my referencing, learning about and carefully applying the Harvard system. I specifically asked my mentor to examine my referencing for me, which he did, and indicated that he could identify no issue with it. So while I accept that the marker found it inadequate, I am at a loss because I thought I did my referencing in accordance with the available guidance.
Like many others here, I put a lot of effort and money into my RAP submission. My confidence took a severe blow when I received my result, but I managed to shake it off and thought the feedback would point me in a good direction for a resubmission. But it didn’t, and now I’m back feeling very demotivated and isolated with no real sense of direction. Of course I could make amendments and resubmit, but the fact is that I do not have much money available to me and I need to try and continue with the professional level of my ACCA as well. If I am to make another submission, it means I will be taking time from other priorities and would have to borrow the submission fee. Under those circumstances, I feel a great sense of insecurity about a resubmission because I really would need to get it on the second attempt. Unfortunately, with the feedback I was given being very limited, I feel I would be doing little more than stabbing around in the dark with a resubmission.
I really do not know what to do. My sense of “get up and go” is gone. If I had clarity, I believe I would enthusiastically resubmit, but I have no clarity. I could not afford either the time or the money to fail again.
If anyone has any thoughts, please share. Like I said, I feel really isolated here because unlike a situation where I might be a full time undergraduate student attending the university, we do not have the option to speak to anyone at OBU for guidance. Additionally I do not know anybody else personally who is going through a RAP or has done one in the past.
Thanks for reading!
March 29, 2023 at 11:25 am #682007I am sorry to hear your story.
Any fail is demoralising and if you have been given inadequate feedback then you are thrown into a situation of both disappointment and frustration.
Poor or inadequate feedback adds to this frustration. Too often I see ‘repeat’ comments and/or those that are superficial and do not really get to the heart of what the student needs to do to bring about improvements that will lead to a pass. Perhaps that is where your mentor should come in if you failed more than referencing?
With referencing we have a guide on our homepage ‘The OT Ultimate Guide to Referencing your RAP’, which many students have found helpful [judged on the basis that these days we get very few queries on the forums about referencing] and there is some advice on formatting references in the Information Pack.
There may be some confusion about ‘common knowledge’ and information that is in the public domain. Although you do not have to reference common knowledge you may still have to reference the latter – just because something is in the public domain does not necessarily render it common knowledge. This misunderstanding can sometimes mean that work is under-referenced. The rule of thumb is that every fact, opinion or use of a source must be referenced unless it is so obvious that the ‘man [or woman!] in the street would know it – in which case you don’t have to.
I haven’t actually seen any feedback for Topic 13 {bearing in mind that P45 was the first time this topic was submitted on]. My overall view before reading your comments was that students might overlook the ethics part of the title and not present strong ethical arguments in their report and it might be failed for being ‘descriptive’ [i.e. talks about what the issue is but does not expand this to consider its ethical significance and impacts]. Or I thought perhaps with the stakeholder impacts that students might just focus on Mendelow’s matrix and show stakeholder power/influence and interest but not discuss how the ethical malpractices had actually impacted the various stakeholder groups
Given your circumstances maybe you can give the RAP a rest until a later period. This might help you to ‘regroup’ your thoughts. You may find if you come back to it later you may see it through a fresh pair of eyes. It would be a shame to give up completely unless you really think it is a hopeless cause – and do remember we will try to answer any queries on the forum pages to help
All the best

March 30, 2023 at 8:10 am #682058Hi guys, I received the results and I failed my OBU because of my Presentation slides.
The marker’s feedback is as follows:
” Communication skills – Fail
The presentation does not summarise the findings, analysis and conclusions of the research report. The financial analysis must provide some explanation of the trends (analysis) and commentary on the benchmarking undertaken. You have merely stated the figures, Please provide analysis and benchmarking for all ratios included. Your conclusions also need attention as currently they do not provide the reasoning or commentary on the drivers behind the exceptional performance.”
In a way the feedback is true as my presentation only stated figures for the ratio analysis but that was because if i started explaining the details behind my presentation, the slides would be very heavy and contain a lot of figures making it longer than 15 slides.
I am asking if there is a way I can ask for an Academic Appeal as it is the only criteria I failed and if you can suggest possible arguments I can make i would appreciate it. I sent an email to acca@brookes.ac.uk asking for the procedure but i have not received any answer yet.
Kindly if anyone can help out I’d appreciate it

Email : tahniatjawaid@gmail.com”I don’t think you should ask for a sample from anybody else. It is against the plagiarism policy of OBU that one either asks for a sample or provides another person with their own sample.
Try to refrain from asking these questions. And please read the materials and guidelines published by OBU themselves.
It’s called cheating that you request samples from other OBU students/graduates.
July 22, 2023 at 6:52 am #688711Absolutely agree. Doing degree work is about learning to think for yourself – so read the Infomation Pack, consult all the student articles on the Oxford Brookes Mentoring website, get yourself a decent mentor and start thinking for yourself instead of trying to steal ideas from others!
