Thank you for your reply and congratulations for your first class of Hons. I just wondering why the dont send it by email need to wait for very long time. By the way have you got your certificate yet?

Not sure how to view if you are a Student, think the exam results page just shows whether you have completed the ACCA side of the degree.

As this is a separate department from the ACCA Brookes office the process can take several months (which is normal for most UK universities). Again this is sent to the address that is held on record.

I need the certificate urgently but OBU office told me they can’t issue a letter of confirmation unless I purchase it on the OBU online shop. Has anyone done this before?

I have also sent an email to request the certificate but they said ACCA office needed a number of weeks to input the results to the system. It means that they still not issue the certificate yet and the certificate is not ready to be send out. You need to be patient and wait for a few weeks or months.

I Received my result saying I did not pass my Research and Analysis Project.
The feedback report shows all passed, except for Information Technology which is a fail, stating: “To fully demonstrate your IT skills your spreadsheet must incorporate some formulae to do calculations, e.g. of financial ratios. Look at page 74 of the information pack where you will see the pass/fail criteria used in evaluating information technology skills. Under FAIL it states “little evidence of use of appropriate formulae in spreadsheet”. You must use more extensive formulae, including formula that links cell references rather than just numbers”
I did my project on topic 17, Carillion as the Business and I did input data and made graph in the excel.
To make sure I understand what they are asking, my question is, do I need to make some ratio calculation in the same excel spreadsheet that I submitted to OBU? And do I need to include it in the graph that I made?
June 2, 2019 at 6:50 pm #518433@Kurt sorry to hear that you were not successful in P37. The ‘good’ news is that if this was the only assessment criterion failed then I would term this a ‘technical fail’ – although annoyingly it means another resubmission fee and your pass grade will be capped as a C. However you should be able to remedy this quickly in an afternoon and be able to resubmit later this month.
it is important that you and the mentor are fully familiar with assessment criteria which for IT state you have to load a spreadsheet that demonstrates the use of formulae (and not just a graph).
There is scope to do a spreadsheet for all topics though some lend themselves to this more readily than others. My own students submitting on Carillion in P37 & P38 used a variety of data to illustrate the weak governance and one of the common calculations that was used for Topic 17 was the impact of these on share price. There were several profit warnings for example in 2017 and these data points and prices can be plotted and percentage falls calculated. Provided you use the excel formulae and show these in the file you upload as,well as the graphs you should be passed on this element

“The purpose of this statement is to demonstrate reflection, identifying your strengths and weaknesses, reflecting on how you overcame those weaknesses. Your answer to question 1 was more of a description of the process than any reflection. You begin answering question 2 by talking about your main research objective which is a personal goal rather than a research objective”.I sent an appeal email to OBU with regard to it on 2-06-19 and I haven’t got any response from them yet as several weaknesses and strengths were clearly mentioned in the SLS together with the discussion of financial and non-financial elements of the company, however, I haven’t received response email from OBU yet.
How long does OBU take to respond to appeal email for second review? Moreover, should I send follow-up email to them or I should wait for a few more days instead?
June 8, 2019 at 11:22 pm #519916Probably the short answer is that it depends on how many appeals there are. However as the P37 results were very late coming out and the P38 submissions were being handled at the same time there is possibly a shortage of administrative staff to process everything at once and this has probably impacted. (Normally the results come out in March and there is a 6 – 7 week gap in between). I think usually they try to deal with appeals in about a month.
Bad luck though on being failed on the SLS. I guess you have read through the Assessment Criteria with respect to what is required?
Normally it is how you handled the objectives rather than the specifics e.g. talking about whether your objectives were reasonable and clear rather than the detail of what they comprised that is required, but even so provided you did sufficient personal self-reflection diverging slightly shouldn’t be a major problem (unless all of Q2 talked about what went into your report and not about any challenges of meeting the objectives adequately)

I appealed OBU a week ago to reconsider my SLS as I was awarded fail in the SLS by the university and tonight I received an email of the Appeal Officer in which it was stated that the assessment criteria was applied correctly, however, I am still eligible to appeal OBU formally for second review of SLS.
The comments of the marker regarding my SLS in the feedback sheet were,
“The purpose of this statement is to demonstrate reflection, identifying your strengths and weaknesses, reflecting on how you overcame those weaknesses. Your answer to question 1 was more of a description of the process than any reflection. You begin answering question 2 by talking about your main research objective which is a personal goal rather
than a research objective.”On the contrary, all weaknesses and ways of using my strengths were already embodied in the SLS. Moreover, there wasn’t any discussion of personal goal in the SLS and merely financial aspects of topic 8 were accounted for. I quoted almost 20 weaknesses in the appeal email together with my strengths for overcoming them, however, still the appeal officer says that
“I understand that you are unhappy with your RAP result. Please be assured that this has been thoroughly considered by your marker and has been verified by the University’s moderation process, and I have also reviewed the work on your request. I find that the feedback was appropriate, and designed to assist you to re-submit successfully.
For your re-submission, I would advise you to think about how, for instance, you might do things differently on another occasion, the strengths you identified, and how they helped you, your weaknesses, and how you overcame them. Also, how you felt about working on the RAP and working with your mentor; did you have any problems you didn’t expect?”
Kindly advise me that under which criteria I can appeal OBU for awarding me pass in the SLS? Moreover, I referred the SLS exemplars given on the OBU website for drafting my SLS and the weaknesses coupled with the ways of overcoming those weaknesses were far more than the weaknesses entailed in the SLS exemplars.
I really wonder that what kind of weaknesses the marker wanted me to incorporate in my SLS when already bulk of weaknesses, way more than the weaknesses and strengths given in the SLS exemplars, related to the point of time when my work wasn’t reviewed by the mentor are self-evident in the SLS and the way I overcame them with the suggestions of mentor were already present in it. Obtrusively, there was no space to discuss my personal weaknesses and all weaknesses I discussed were solely related to RAP.
Kindly guide me.
June 16, 2019 at 7:58 pm #520608I emailed them on Wednesday and still i haven’t received any response for them…its been over a month and Neither they give us soft copy nor any information regarding our documents so we can track them… first submission was late then result and now no ethics or sympathy at all for us .. at least let us know
