Hi,
My average point of F5-F9 papers is 67 so I need at least grade B in RAP to get first honor.
My question is:
– The percentage of grade B each period
– Which topics should I choose to get better grade?
– How much time do I need to prepare RAP? As an auditor, the work is always busy
– Requirement with a grade B RAP. Does ACCA grade affect to RAP?
– How much is the budget for the mentor and other fees?Thank you.
February 23, 2023 at 10:24 pm #679530Brookes do not normally give a precise breakdown of grades but the majority of students pass with a basic grade i.e. a C. Only about 15-20% max get a B with approximately 5% of submissions being awarded an A.
The P45 results have not yet been released but the Programme Lead has already stated that Topics 4, 5 and 8 were not well done by many students so have not passed.
So your best chance of getting the decent grade you are seeking is to chose a reputable mentor who may be able to help you achieve your B grade. The average of your F4-9 papers will indicate the class of honours you will get depending on the report grade, however otherwise there is no immediate impact of ACCA results on the report grade i.e. the two are independent of each other but jointly contribute to the final degree classification
Mentor fees vary but generally the level of fees equates to quality and experience so expect to pay more for quality. Possibly view this as an investment – if first class honours is very important for you, be prepared to pay more for an experienced mentor to increase the chance of getting this.
Students tend to underestimate the amount of time needed to do the RAP. With only 11 weeks to go until P46 submission close it is doubtful you would have the time now to submit successfully and get a B. Allow at least 15 – 20 weeks.
February 24, 2023 at 12:44 pm #679550Your comment on the program lead made me shiver ???. I hope I made it through. I did topic 5, I only need a C grade to obtain first class as my average is close to 80.
February 25, 2023 at 4:01 pm #679602I am pasting the comments that the Programme Lead sent out in an email to all registered mentors relating to why some P45 submissions had been failed. She advised students to consult the mentoring website to find the links to YouTube videos and other info that might be relevant.
It would be very prudent for all P46 students to look at these so that they don’t repeat the same mistakes.
“Presentations – some students’ presentations are not reaching a pass standard. These lack the detail of the research – in essence, the analysis, evaluation and conclusions,
Topic 8 – some students have failed to realise that this topic requires an analysis of the sector (the application of the models to this sector). Students who try to present an old-style topic 8 will fail.
Topics 4 & 5 – the students that fail in these topics fail to make a clear connection between business performance and financial analysis. There needs to be a critical analysis of the reasons for exceptionally good or poor performance.”
February 26, 2023 at 1:32 pm #679625Thank you for the clarification Gillian. I’m at peace knowing that I linked my business and financial analysis. I have two questions, in my presentation I made just one error in my sentence wording (omitted wording). I hope this will not heavily affect my chances of passing?
The second question is that if the grammar and meaning are clear but there are very little grammatical mistakes, hope it will not affected my chances of passing?. Thank you.
February 26, 2023 at 2:45 pm #679630100% accuracy in grammar, English and spelling is not expected as long as the overall meaning is understandable.
March 21, 2023 at 3:13 pm #681609Hi Gillian,
On the point about presentations, how much detail should there be on each slide? Should there be brief bullet points that are expanded on when giving the presentation or should there be a solid amount of information on each slide?
March 21, 2023 at 3:22 pm #681610Has the obu result released
March 21, 2023 at 4:38 pm #681612Your presentation must address your key findings and have at least one slide for conclusions (and recommendations for some topics if appropriate – but NOT for topics 4, 5, 8, 13, 14 or 15).
You have to be selective of what data you choose to present as the slides must be suitable for a 15 minute presentation
Appropriate bullet points are best and some graphics to add a bit of interest. Remember this is an audio-visual presentation so some explanations would be given orally to the mentor.
Certainly do not copy and paste chunks of your report on to slides as that will not be acceptable – for the most part the slides should be specifically designed for the purpose, and do not put more than two graphs on a slide as otherwise everything will look cramped and there will be ‘information overload’.
