Contact acca@brookes.ac.uk about this sooner rather than later as you need to sort this out before passing F7/8/9
October 10, 2018 at 7:02 am #477010I have currently completed 7 ACCA fundamental papers (f1 – f7). Can I undertake brookes b.sc project now and submit once I complete my fundamental level ?
October 10, 2018 at 12:20 pm #477014The main issue probably relates to having ensured that you had provided evidence of English language ability before F7. So did you satisfy the English language requirements before passing F7? If you didn’t then there could be problems as you need to have proved English ability before passing F7/8/9. If you did provide appropriate evidence before passing these then you should be eligible.
Any queries about eligibility need to be made to acca@brookes.ac.uk
October 18, 2018 at 2:56 pm #479113hi my last eligibility for exam acca is June 2019.
i have passed f1-f9 but going to do the OBU and submit for the May 2019.
By the time the RAP & BSC result out is September 2019, my acca membership already expired.
What is my situation?
please advice as i am not keen to take the P level papers already & not much time left also. Will i still get my OBU degree cert if i passed the OBU thesis.
October 27, 2018 at 6:18 pm #479972Hello,
I have passed ACCA F7 (FR) and I am working towards passing my AA and FM papers. I am however worried that I have not met the eligibility criteria regarding proficiency in English Language, for the RAP registration and submission.
I am from Nigeria and I remember that I submitted a degree from a Nigerian university to ACCA during my initial registration.
I also have an MSc. Forensic Accounting from a UK university. I got this degree before passing F7.October 27, 2018 at 7:26 pm #479975I left out information that I had at the point of applying for exemptions, opted into the OBU BSc programme on the ACCA website.

January 1, 2019 at 4:52 pm #499598Hi,
Could anyone please tell me where do I send my English certificate for OBU.
ThanksJanuary 2, 2019 at 8:06 am #499643Contact acca@brookes.ac.uk and they will deal with your query. If you passed F4 before it changed to being a multi-choice paper in 2014 then your English proficiency was proved by that.
January 2, 2019 at 3:29 pm #499696Hi, I will be giving FR exam in March’2019 attempt, and I wanted to ask as it is stated on ACCA website that we need to opt for the OBU degree before passing the last 3 exams.
So if I book the exam of FR by January and give my English Language requirement test in Februrary and submit it to ACCA or OBU (i am not aware of who to send the script) in Feb will I still be eligible for OBU bachelor’s degree?January 3, 2019 at 8:34 am #499750I believe that will be fine -as long as proficiency in English is proven before any of those papers are passed and you have opted into the degree programme.
However check with acca@brookes.ac.uk as they administer the rules (and will provide details of where and how the certificate should be submitted).
January 4, 2019 at 4:12 pm #499991Hi everyone, I wasn’t so clear regarding the english proficiency requirement hence I ended up calling ACCA.
They informed me that for being eligible for OBU you need to do the following.
-Have the required English proficiency evidence, it could be either of those mentioned on the website of OBU. https://www.accaglobal.com/content/dam/ACCA_Global/Students/bsc/recognised-english-language-qualifications-september-2017.pdf
-Have the required english proficiency evidence submitted to ACCA BEFORE the results of the following exams appear as PASS i.e. FR/F7, AA/F8 and FM/F9. If either of them appear as pass, unfortunately you cannot go ahead for OBU
-You do not automatically appear as opt in, you need to send the english proficiency evidence, that is the eligibility for opting in.
-Hence after you are opted in, with your language evidence submitted, pass the last exams i.e. FR, AA, and FM.
-Starting preparing the RAP and SLS and submit whatever Submit session is appropriate for you.So please for all those students that are about to give F7/FR, F8/AA or/and F9/FM in the March’19 attempt you MUST submit the evidence before 15 APRIL 2019. Thank you
I hope everyone is cleared, because I wasn’t until I called ACCA, as the moderator said here quite alot (sorry for continuous similar questions), the admin matters are better solved if we talk with ACCA directly and than forward and help others to understand.January 4, 2019 at 5:59 pm #500008Thank you so much tasbihak for taking the time and trouble to post the detail above. We do try to help where we can, but as you have found out for yourself -it is always best to go straight to the people who know as their information is the most reliable!
January 14, 2019 at 2:48 am #501464Hi guys,
I failed to login into OBU website to check whether I can or cannot to do OBU project.
When I login the correct ACCA number and password, the website shows invalid login. What actually the problem is? Is that the OBU website now cannot login?January 14, 2019 at 8:52 am #501637The issue is that the OBU-ACCA website has been suspended following issues in November.
The only way to get any information about status and past feedback is via email. The address is acca@Brookes.ac.uk
Set out your query clearly. In older to submit you (a) have to be within the 10 year limit since registration with ACCA, (b) have proved your proficiency in English before passing F7/8/9 and (c) are opted into the programme. You must also pass the Ethics module (if not already passed) by about 28 March 2019.
January 16, 2019 at 10:38 pm #502356Hi i want to know if im still eligible to do OBU degree project :
i passed F1-F8 already, left final paper F9 & the OBU project.
My last eligibility date to sit exam is this coming June 2019.
i know i am running out of time if i take F9 exam this March 2019 & the OBU project class.
is it possible to request acca to extend my eligibility date so that i can pass my f9 & do the OBU project
please advice
thanks
January 17, 2019 at 6:52 am #502380It probably depends on when you provided evidence of proficiency in English. See the answers above and contact acca@brookes.ac.uk who are the ones who will be able to confirm your eligibility.
If you are eligible start immediately, pause for your exam and resume after sitting your paper – you may just about be able to do it if you are committed enough so think about your possible topic right now!
Good luck!
January 20, 2019 at 11:55 am #502767I just gave my IELTS and I’m not sure that I’ll score a 6 band in Speaking. My question is that do we Have to Score a 6 band overall or Individually in IELTS
January 21, 2019 at 3:21 am #502851Hi,
I have answered your query in the General Forum.. Here
https://opentuition.com/topic/english-requirement-for-bsc-obu-acca/A humble request, please refrain from posting the same question across multiple forums. There is normally one forum which is most suitable in which to post your question.
Thank you.March 26, 2019 at 11:06 am #510465Hello, i had listened few days ago that obu would be withdrawl the requirement of IELTS and english Prof for the eligibility of BSC. Is it true? Iam an ACCA finalist, i had not done IELTS when i had passed my F6 exam. Now Accordingly no IELTS requirement is iam Eligible for OBU Bsc program?
March 26, 2019 at 1:31 pm #510482I was told by an overseas student that English proficiency was being phased out, However they then came back and said this was just a possibility that OBU was consideringi.e. nothing definite has been decided.
Personally I think there needs to be some proficiency in English – markers need to be able to understand key concepts and ideas when assessing work and it is an award being made by a British University. Whilst perfection in English should not be
necessary and the language create a bar, there still needs to be a minimum Standard of written English to fulfil these requirements (in my opinion)My advice: get your English proficiency sorted out now before attempting F7/8/9 (or their new equivalents) rather than hope the rule will be changed
April 15, 2019 at 6:38 pm #512953For those who have been frustrated by the rules on English Proficiency and being able to do the RAP – received today from the University:
“Changes to English Proficiency
We have some exciting news about the eligibility requirements for the BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
Oxford Brookes University has aligned their English Language Proficiency requirements with those of the ACCA. There is no longer a requirement for students to submit an English language qualification such as IELTS to ACCA for approval. It is hoped that this change removes a significant barrier to participation.
This change has been back-dated and so students that have already completed FR, FM or AA (papers 7, 8, 9) will still be eligible for the BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting if they are within the 10 year rule. If students have any questions regarding this, please ask them to contact acca@brookes.ac.uk ”

April 16, 2019 at 1:28 pm #513071I am so glad that they have confirmed this change, hopefully they send out emails to students so they can continue with their exams. I had to specifically take time out from studying for my March 19 attempt to prepare and give the IELTS, it is time consuming and pricey as well.
August 3, 2019 at 7:29 am #526058Hey,
I’m attempting f9 financial management paper on September 2019. The results won’t be out until first week of October. When is the earliest date that I’d need to start preparing for OBU?
From the little that I understand, I won’t be eligible (or ready) to attempt it on period 39 September, right? I read somewhere that period 40 will be in March. If that’s the case, given the eligibility criteria that applicants should not have passed any of the professional level papers before attempting BSc, is it worth to wait that long and skip 2 exam sessions?
Thanks in advance
