4b.20 A normal distribution is to be split into four equal areas, two to the right of Z = 0 and two to the left
of
Z = 0 (Z = 0 at the mean).
Using normal distribution tables, the |Z| value that splits the area in this way is closest to which of the
following?
? 0.0987
? 0.1915
? 0.3333
hi i dont get how to solve this the answer in the book is 0.675099 but it isnt provided in the options
plz explain how do they get the answer
Which book are you referring to?
Given there are four equal areas, the proportion in each area must be 0.25.
The z value that gives a result of 0.25 in the tables is between 0.67 (which gives 0.2486) and 0.68 (which gives 0.2517). The answer has apportioned between 0.67 and 0.68, but there is no need to do this in the exam. I can only assume that the fact that this was not given as one of the options is due to a typing mistake in your book.
