Hello,
I didn’t manage to pass F5 this time and will be re-taking in Dec 14. I currently self study and use BPP. I found the materials really good for F4. However, I feel I need more materials to pass F5. My friend mentioned OpenTuition.com so thought I would give it ago. Please can someone tell me how it works? What is the best way to use the materials and to pass F5? I am also going to attempt F6 in Dec 14 and would like to use the resources for that too.
Any advice/tips would be really helpful!
Trying to stay positive with F5!
Thank you,
Jess
August 8, 2014 at 4:55 pm #188605Sorry to hear of your failure Jess. I’m planning on taking F5 this Dec (first attempt for me). I’m using the BPP online facility (recorded lectures – not live). I’ve found the BPP text really useful so far.
OT is great. Really good to use in conjunction with BPP texts.
Best way (I find) is to print off the OT notes and then watch all the videos (which are superb). Use this in line with your BPP materials and get a good exam/revision kit (I intend to use both BPP & Kaplan for the revision kit). Particularly with the new exam style questions from Dec 14 too.
Chin up on the failure – with only a 39% pass rate you’re in the majority – not that that will really cheer you up.
John Moffat is an excellent tutor and responds very promptly to any queries you might have (using the ask the tutor forum on here). Can’t speak highly enough of this site or the lecturers. A real positive for all students.
Any queries then please feel free to drop me a line – chris1975z@btinternet.com
Kind Regards
Chris

August 8, 2014 at 9:22 pm #188704Thank you Chris. Your guidance is really helpful.
As I mentioned I self study, so it’s good to know that the support is here.
Thank you!!!
Jess 🙂
August 11, 2014 at 11:53 am #189366Hi Jess
No problems at all – if you want to link up as “study buddies” then let me know. Would be good to support one another along the way. I work full time in industry and have a one year old daughter to throw into the bargain so only too well aware of time constraints and having to make all study sessions count as much as possible!
Kind Regards
Chris
August 23, 2014 at 6:39 pm #192058Hi all,
Im a newbie here in OT. I found OT by searching ACCA study materials.
I believe it would be helpful & useful for my studies.
But one thing I worried is my study schedule because Im working full time and my knowledge is not updated already since I graduated my degree in 2003 which I got exemption from F1-F3.Im scheduled to take with my initial paper F5 by June2015.
Im thinking of adding 1 like maybe F4 (either global or singapore), Im not sure which one as Im only holding Employment Pass which will expire soon and subject for renewal, in other words Im a foreigner in this land. Which one should I take? Any comments or suggestions?BTW Im from the Philippines.Last question is, do I need to enroll in an approved ACCA school or stick to OT?
Hoping to receive your reply very soon.
Thank you very much.
Best regards,

Thanks johnSeptember 21, 2014 at 5:38 pm #195792Jesse:
Most people studying for the ACCA exams are working full time, so do not worry about that. You should have no problem studying for two exams for next June.
With regard to F4, I guess that if you will definitely be leaving Singapore then it would be best to take the Global exam.
It is up to you how you study for the exams. Our free lectures together with the free Course Notes cover everything that you would be taught if you went to one of the tuition providers (all our lecturers teach for approved tuition providers, and the lectures are exactly what we teach on the courses!).
The only extra thing that you do need is a Revision/Exam Kit from one of the approved publishers (BPP, Kaplan or Becker). These are books containing lots of exam-standard questions to practice on, and practice is vital.
If you have any problems while you are studying, then if you ask in the relevant Ask the Tutor forum then we will do our best to help you.
