Hi John,
I can see on the ACCA website that there has been an addition to the learning curve section of the syllabus for Dec 14.
I have got the BPP book and wondered will we now be expected to calculate the learning rate using logarithms or will the examiner always give us say 85%/90% learning rate?
Thanks
Olivia
It is not a new addition – it is only to clarify what has always been examinable.
Two things:
First of all, you have always been expected to be able to calculate b using for formula on the formula sheet (using logs). However, in the exam, b has always been given and I think it will continue to be given.
Secondly, (and more likely) you can be told the time for the first unit and for the second unit and be expected to ‘work backwards’ to get the learning rate. This has been asked a couple of times in the past (and I show an example in my free lecture on learning curves). It is very easy (and does not need logs), but most people get it wrong!
