    Hi John,

    I hope you’re doing well.

I’m reaching out to ask for your advice on how I can best prepare to pass the PM exam on my first attempt. I am planning to sit the exam in September 2026.

My current plan is to go through all the video lectures available on OpenTuition, complete all the practice questions on the platform, and also make use of the ACCA practice platform to work through additional questions and past papers. Additionally, I intend to purchase the Kaplan PM kit for further support.

I did receive an exemption for MA during university, and since then, I have only worked in financial accounting roles. Given this, would you recommend revisiting MA content before starting my PM studies? If so, would simply watching the MA lecture videos be enough before moving on to PM?

With around four months until the exam and currently not working, I am hoping to dedicate several hours each day to studying. In your opinion, does this seem like a realistic plan to prepare thoroughly and pass the exam on my first attempt?

Thank you in advance for your time and any advice you can offer. I really appreciate your support.

    Kind regards,
    Rav

    Hi Rav,

It sounds like you have a plan.
A recap on MA would be useful if you have the time, and watching the videos is the thing to do.

Then watching all the videos on PM also is critical , whilst working through the notes, practicing questions from the platform is a great idea and then doing as many questions as you can from an exam kit.
The key is plenty of practice questions!!
    So work work work….

Ask any questions you may need help with. We can do this!

Although John has done all the videos if you need any help then it’s me… Lisa
    So just ask away….

    Kind regards
    Lisa

    Hi Lisa,

Thank you so much for getting back to me — I really appreciate it.

I feel that four months should be plenty of time to cover everything. I understand that the key to passing the PM exam is practising lots of questions, as this will help me get familiar with how they’re structured and the format expected in the answers.

Regarding the MA revision, do you think it would be a good idea to just watch the videos and make my own notes, or would that be spending too much time on MA? I was thinking of watching the OT videos by John while following along with the PDF notes — that way, I can get a good understanding of MA without spending too much time, and then focus more on PM and working through all the materials from there. I also noticed that John mentioned in a few forums that he does recap some of the MA content in his PM videos.

    Thanks again,
    Rav

    Hi Rav,
You really have a good basis of understanding of what to do to recap your knowledge of MA.
I personally would watch the videos, following along with the PDF notes, then after this, as you have said focus more on PM and working through all the materials from there.
    You really have impressed me
    Kind regards
    Lisa
