    Hi there,
I am approaching my 2 year post qualification with ACCA.

My employer is taking it personally when requesting she signs off my Practising Certificate post qual experience so that I can bank it for future. She is severely halting my progression as she is wondering why do I want this. I explained I need this for the future if and when I apply for a PC.

I therefore handed my notice in as she is refusing to sign off my experience.

I understand that employers are under no obligation with ACCA to sign off experience, however I have quite clearly undertaken a senior/managerial role for the prior 2 years and she knows that. It seems extremely unfair that I am being held back from opportunities just because my employer ”doesn’t want to lose any more staff” or ”wants me to stay”.

It has been extremely toxic in my workplace and I will be glad to leave.

On the ACCA guidance front, it does seem extremely unfair for employers not to be obliged in some way to sign off experience that is obviously undertaken and part of the day to day role. I could leave this employer unsigned, go to another employer and still be refund, until the day I retire!

I feel like ACCA need to change this guidance and understand from a members point of view that it could be quite common that nobody can every obtain a signature for their PC unless it benefits the company they are working for in that moment in time.

Does anyone have any similar situations/thoughts?

If your supervisor is not fulling their role (https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/employer/employer-help-and-guidance/help-for-your-acca-students/practical-experience-supervisor.html), you should be raising this with ACCA directly https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/footer-toolbar/contact-us.html

    Hi,
I had the same issue to be honest and Acca said the same to me. It was my first accounting job and worked there for 1.8 years and then was forced to resign. The shocking true that I raised concerns (whistle blown) to very seniors as I was being asked to do things that were not correct and this is in the UK shockingly. They tried to make me redundant but called me back so I can’t claim. After they put all sorts of allegations and accusations against me and forced me to resign. Now I do not have any references or my per signed-off. It’s really unfair as I tried to do the right thing which we get taught in acca but everything just went against me. I even had all the evidence and gave it to seniors who is chartered accountant and chair man but they were defending. Nobody even spoke to me at work and there isn’t an HR department as it’s such a small organisation for them to sign it.

The HR might be able to sign it?
