Thanks for your guidance. I will follow your all tips and avoid the P5 and try to cover all the points in study materials. And also control my nervousness and focus on the practicing the previous exam paper and don’t enter the negative thought on my mind. And try to complete all paper in 3 years.

I completed ACCA journey some months ago and in wondering about taking MSC in Accountancy (Pathway 2)?

How much effort is required to achieve it is it worth it?

    Thank you in advance,

Yes, only the Study text. There is not need to have too many books or to go too “wide”. I focused on the essentials. I felt comfortable with the structure. I did not use the full kit.

I would like to briefly mention my storyline as well, how I became ACCA.

I had exemption on all F level exams and not needed to have ATX, as a result of being CPA in Turkey.

I started with P3 in December 2017, then P1 in March 2018 and P5 in June 2018 then finally taking SBR in December 2018.

I aimed to have passing grade for each at my first sittings, which I accomplished. I had completed CMA in 2009 and for that examination I had targeted higher grades thinking that would make a difference in my professional career and being just out of business school with a MBA I still had that kind of mentality, score as high as possible. But 10 years down the road, with other priorities in my life I decided to not make such a sacrifice (I never cancel weekly exercise sessions I have; 4 days a week). At the end I had 65 in P3, 63 in P1, 55 in P5 and 53 in SBR (good that I completed the the process giving the fact that there is decreasing trend in my scores:))

My study plan was similar to that of @mshoaib1997 but limited to 8-9 weeks. I started by watching OT videos, then moved to read Kaplan text book. Before moving into Kaplan exam kit, I prepared a list of questions for last three years in the book and also top 5 topics which have been asked. First I completed full review of text book, then focus on these two listed questions (last 3 years and most asked topics). After completion I did a quick review of chapters, and allocate final 5 days for any topics which I don’t feel comfortable (giving the fact that 2 out of final 5 days was not for study due to business related responsibilities and travel requirement to take the exam).

As of Monday 14th, I felt very relaxed and fairly treated by ACCA. I reached my personal goals to complete all in first sitting. Could I do more ? Of course, if I were not exercising that often, not joining running races just before the exam, or studying towards my CPA in the mean time I believe I could have done it better. Does it needed ? It depends on your goal but I would like to highlight everyone that, everyone has different life and priorities and life is not 100% ACCA, there are much more things going on. At the end, we all live only 1 life so we can’t miss it out.

Hope my stroyline also helps others towards completion of ACCA and again thanks for OT.

p.s.I never looked at link theory whether it is working or not. This way, learning that I have completed the process makes me feel much better in a way.

    Hi Victor.
Is it better to use Kaplan books Ive tried IBTC books but coming to the exams I feel there is almost nothing coming from the IBTC books. Do I study the online notes of BPP as well or both BPP and Kaplan books. What is the best ir best preferred provider to go through. Tks

    Hi,
I need your support and opinion, please.
I decided to move from CIMA to ACCA. Completed three exams on Operational Level ( after CIMA Certificate BA). Before I registered with ACCA I’d been in touch with them and checked the exemptions. At this point I was told I’d be exempt from 5 exams but after paying fee I’m getting confirmation that I’m eligible to only three exemptions? Have any of you had this kind of problem? Thanks a lot!

I have read a lot of inspiring posts here. Thank you all for sharing your experiences and learning tips. I have learned a lot.

I have been with Open Tuition since early mid 2000 during my AAT journey. I just realised what I have missed as I have never joined nor read nor posted any comment.

I am indeed grateful for all of you great and inspiring people on this forum.

A big thank you to OT for all your support with this great learning resources and absolute wonderful platform to share experiences.

I have started my ACCA since 2007 and stopped due to other personal reasons – work, marriage, kids. But, I have never given up on the dream of being qualified with ACCA.

I just resumed back to studying ACCA last year and I must admit that it was a challenge. I sat my ATX in September 2020. Finger crossed for next week’s result.

So, I could relate a lot with those with family that have commented in the earlier posts. @Victornewman, I also appreciate your inspiring but firm tips/advise as life will always throw things at us. I will take most on your advise onboard as I think that I needed them.

As most of you have said, with perseverance, commitment and focus, we will all achieve our goals of being a qualified accountant.

@khansbest@123 A warm welcome to OpenTuition and our forums, but take care in choosing which forum to post to and avoid, as here, posting to old threads.

We have a “New to ACCA?” forum https://opentuition.com/forum/acca-forums/new-to-acca where you will find posts to common questions about getting started.

Short answer is “yes” you can complete your journey with OpenTuition (although we do not support Advanced Tax (ATX) or variant tax/law exams).

Here is a link to ACCA’s exemption calculator https://www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/help/exemptions-calculator.html
