I don’t think this will make the exams easier guys. Different yes!
The thing with multi choice is you are either right or wrong. No marks can be given for working. This is a great disadvantage since you cannot show the examiner you have knowledge. On long 20 mark questions, even if you did not get the correct answer, as long as you knew something on the subject it was possible to gain easy marks.
I really prefer the old style but I guess it stops people from question spotting, which ACCA keep saying is a problem? Can’t say I agree with this theory either!
If you want greater difficulty perhaps ACCA should introduce negative marking! That would be harsh!! (i’m joking ACCA please don’t!)
I do like the fact F4 is CBE though!!! Its the one I have been putting off.
October 13, 2014 at 3:34 pm #204301I think ACCA wants to focus on P-level exams!
– The time limitation to be qualified will be 7 years from the first pass in P-level.
– F-level will certainly be done through CBE in a near future. Being just a way of filtering students you can attempt P-level exams.
– There will be 4 exams sessions in a year. Increasing the chance to access P-level and qualify. My opinion is that those changes will be positive if the quality of P-level exams is maintained.
October 13, 2014 at 4:54 pm #204313I agree with you about the changes being positive.
However, I do not think it puts any more or less focus on the P-level exams.
The F level exams certainly are all changing to CBE, but only one section of the exam is objective testing – the other section will still be long-form questions (with CBE they become multi-task questions). This will not make the exams any easier (or harder).
Currently the F level exams do act as a filter, but more importantly they build up knowledge that is need for the P level exams. That will not change.
The current 10 year rule for qualifying has never actually applied (because the 10 years has been reset every time the syllabus has been reviewed, and it is reviewed more often than every 10 years).
The change to 4 exam sessions a year will mean that some students will get through the exams faster, but the real reasons for it are to allow students to fit in their studying round busy periods at work, and to retake exams faster if they fail.
October 15, 2014 at 2:44 pm #204500Will they be cbe for f4-f9 from jan 2015 ?!
October 15, 2014 at 4:38 pm #204509They will be CBE at some stage in the future – the ACCA has not yet announced the date.
It will certainly not start from January 2015!December 2, 2014 at 12:27 pm #215964hello there… i saw the CBE online xam here for f4… can we have more MCQs for practice cuz exam are ahead.. ? 🙂
December 2, 2014 at 12:46 pm #215972The test questions are drawn at random from a large bank of questions, so every time that you attempt the test you are likely to get different questions.
For more practice, it is vital that you buy a Revision Kit from one of the ACCA approved publishers, because they contain lots of exam standard questions.
