Hi all
i’m working full time and up until now have been able to work all day and then do 2-3 hours studying in the evening. But recently we have been extremely busy at work, i’m getting in early, working through lunch (to keep on top of the work) and by the time i get home i just want to collapse on the bed and sleep, i feel to mentally tored to study. And the work load isn’t going down any time soon.
Please, please, please can anyone give me some tips as to how to motivate myself to study after a busy and stressful day at work.

October 12, 2012 at 4:50 pm #56486Put a picture up off what you want to attain from taking these exams and put it up somewhere, preferable next to an ACCA logo too. Then make sure you see it all day everyday. What you think/visualise everyday will be come a reality.
October 14, 2012 at 3:09 pm #56487Hi T420 – don’t have any tips but just wanted you to know you are not alone……I work full-time too and it is as manic as yours sounds – was originally going to try to do 3 exams this sitting. Have cut it back to just F6 and only started studying today – am not holding out much hope but will do what I can between now and exam day! Good luck 🙂

I hav started revision today. I work full time and was meant to sit two exams but i have decided to sit only this exam. I have to use my wkend wisely and try to revise at least for 3hrs after work.

Great that you have started revision… Please will you tell me procedure of revision you do… And how much time per day you give for revision… Which study material you use to do revision…
ThanksOctober 24, 2012 at 5:50 pm #56490I recommend watching the F6 video lectures on Open Tuition. Set yourself goals like 3 chapters a day/3 hours a day/3 revision kit questions a day. You have over a month which is plenty, but better to start now than to cram it all in last minute and you will be even more de-motivated to study. Try and get study leave off work when it’s closer to the exam date
October 28, 2012 at 9:16 pm #56491It is really hard at times to motivate ourself to study! I am with you there! I liked whitedogs tip. What I do is I get myself a treat (something I really love ie raspberry ruffle bars) and I do not allow myself the treat until I have done at least an hour of studying. If you put pressure on yourself to do a 6 hour study session or there abouts, then it becomes a chore just thinking about it! Look at your work/social diary and be realisitic. If you are really tired then you wont take much in. Write out a short and brief study plan such as : Monday – no study, early night. Tuesday – 2 hours study time after dinner. Wednesday – no study – early night again, Thursday – study 4 hours after dinner. Friday – no study – bit of social time, Saturday – treat it as work day and study 8 hours. This way you will get some decent rest and some clear defined targets to aim for when it comes to studying.
November 2, 2012 at 4:41 pm #56492Hi I work full time as well and have 4 kids, so I’m always needed. I go to bed as early as posibble (8 – 8:30) and get back up @ 12 to study till 1 or 2. I also take 1/2hr lunch and study the other half. Good Luck.

I honestly dont think there is a fixed way of reading..Smart reading is better than long hours…especially when you have a full time job with family commitments..end of the day, its the fear of resitting a paper that could motivate most of us..any ways..all the best to all of us..
November 15, 2012 at 2:40 pm #56494Just reading the above you really need to work out what style of revision you do. Im more of an audible learner so i have on my phone a list of notes i have read to myself using an app on my phone. So instead of listening to music i listen to my notes. I think it works but may not for some people. Again when makig dnner phone connected to my speakers and i listen to my notes……however when i sit at a desk i need compete silence and then it becomes more boring. You just need to findabalance thats right for you. Motivation i just the start dedication is harder to achieve, maybe instead of doing 3-4 hours a night jus do 90 mins a night every night and also have some relax time
