If I feel the answer to a question fits around more than one model, is it acceptable?
For instance, when discussing the success of HiLite in Dec 2018, is it correct to employ some parts of the national competitive advantage model and some parts of 5 forces?
That is absolutely the correct approach. Any model is unlikely to have the power to reliably reach a correct conclusion. Rather, they help you crawl towards a defendable conclusion.
