Mintzberg proposed that a machine bureaucracy involves regulated tasks & puts emphasis on regulation.
What does this mean?
Is it like in the legal sense?

No, managerial.

Think of a large manufacturing company like Ford. There are strict controls to ensure safety, quality, consistency of products and in the treatment of staff and customers. Mass production requires control and internal regulation.
