June 4, 2014 at 8:48 pm #173971I dont think think its a problem since all questions were compulsory. i am also tensed because i did all my workings and spent a hell lot of time in them but forgot to refer them back while preparing PNL and bal sheet. dont know what will happen
June 4, 2014 at 9:06 pm #173977The time pressure is massive
June 4, 2014 at 9:22 pm #173984Wadah dont worry ACCA has many procedures to overcome such mistakes – they understand we are stressed. Good Luck !

June 4, 2014 at 10:28 pm #174007please can anyone let me know how it will impact me since i haven’t referenced my workings in pnl and bal sheets?
June 4, 2014 at 10:34 pm #174011Anas I advise myself and You, to just put it behind you.
Focus on the coming exams.June 4, 2014 at 10:42 pm #174015Depends on quality of your workings. If you have communicated to marker what your workings relate to then should be no problem. Ofc if the number in main answer is correct its a mark straight away i guess.
Wadah is right dont overanalyse… forget 🙂
June 5, 2014 at 6:55 am #174079It’s gone! It’s over! And there’s absolutely nothing to be gained by remembering what you should have done, but didn’t.
Tell me, how is your life improved if someone were to answer your questions and say, without any authority at all, “You’re a certain fail if you didn’t indicate which questions you attempted” or “It’s essential that you cross-reference your workings to the final answer because otherwise you are a certain fail”
Both comments are incorrect. This is not an exam to test your secretarial abilities in cross-referencing!
Now, stop worrying and get on with your lives!
June 5, 2014 at 11:09 am #174151thanks Mike. this forum has been great and thanks for all your help. i dont know how much presentation matter in this exam but i have tried my best to present my answers in a clear structured format. also on some occasions i initially calculated wrong figures but i used pencil then to cross it and recalculated the correct figs. dont know if that really annoy the examiner
June 5, 2014 at 11:57 am #174158You should be ok ….. but why use pencil?
June 5, 2014 at 12:22 pm #174162i used pencil only to cross where ever there was a wrong fig calculated initially. only on some occasions it happened. i used pencil only not to make things look not too dirty as i think a cross over wrong figs with black ink would have make things less tidier.
overall i think its all about time management and pressure. time management is the key i must say. i started the paper with q4 and q5 and spent 45 minutes on them. that was the critical point actually. these two questions should not have been given more than 30 minutes i think. then i moved to question 1 and calculated the goodwill correctly. on profit and loss, again it was too lenghty and for some reason i spent too much time explaining the treatment of my workings to the examiner just like they do in bpp textbooks. this was highly unnecessary i think but this is all in my mind because bpp textbooks was my main core materiel. because of lengthy workings, i made some very very stupid mistakes such as calculating the number of shares correctly for the purpose of EPS but not taking the exact nominal value of shares in Trail balance to statement of equity. instead i added 16000 to the number of shares but these 16000 were already recorded and i explained that while calculating EPS. this is the reason why my SOFP didn’t balance. at the end i only managed to get 25 minutes to do question 3 in which i calculated the ratios in part a but forgot to take out one element of goodwill while calculating ratios in part b. the interpretation was for 15 marks and i really didnt write much apart from commenting on gearing and roce. i guess any examiner after analyzing my paper will tell how quickly i had to do q3 because of less time. at the end, the worst part is that this paper was easier than before (at least i found it that way) but yes it was very lengthy.
June 5, 2014 at 12:54 pm #174167Ok, but now time to move on and forget all about your chances of F7 success until you get the result in August
Enjoy your Summer break and watch the World Cup in peace
