Which of the folllowing defines coaching??
The answer was
Developing the individual by helping to build on skills and overcome weakness
My answer was
Provision of one way instructions on formal tasks required to carry out the immediate job
Why is my answer wrong because I thought coaching is a form of training that must be able to apply for the job that you are worjing
Isn’t the correct answer describing mentoring instead of coaching since I thought the term ‘developing’ refers to that of coaching??
Your choice implies something like very formal strict training – because of the phrase ‘one way’. Coaching is much more interactive and the correct answer implies that.
Mentoring is often not to do with skills and weaknesses and is more directed to dealing with difficulties such as settling in and asking for more general advice.
