Hello tutor
Could you please explain the meaning of IT and business strategy alignment and any examples?
Thank you tutor
Generally, IT should support business strategy. So if your strategy:
> is to reduce physical stores/branches and move more to on-line sales, your internet site will need to be good.
> is to make to order rather than make large batches for inventory, your IT will need to be able to cope with flexible production and just-in-time approaches.
> is to makes very focussed offers to customers, your IT will need to have a big data capability to analyse customer preferences etc.
> is to trade internationally your IT (accounting system) will have to support multiple currencies.
> is to quickly design, make and distribute many new products, your IT will have to have good computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing capabilities.
