Hi please help on how the marks are being provided for example if we write one relevant and valid point for a question, 2 marks would be provided per point or 1 mark only?

Let’s say you were using Porter’s Five Forces model (or at least some of it) to analyse a company’s (X Co’s) position. There are a number of responses you could make if the question said that it seems a new, powerful competitor, Y CO will enter the market. For example:

    (a) The competition from rivals will increase if Y Co enters the market (Marks = 0.5. This does not do much more than repeat what was in the question)

    (b) The competition from rivals will increase if Y Co enters the market. This is likely to mean that X Co will have to lower its prices and/or launch new products which will successfully compete with Y Co (Marks = 1 as it has been further developed).

    (c) The competition from rivals will increase if Y Co enters the market. This is likely to mean that X Co will have to lower its prices and/or launch new products which will successfully compete with Y Co. This may cause X Co’s profits to decrease. (Marks = 1.5 as the effect on X Co has been mentioned).

    (d) The competition from rivals will increase if Y Co enters the market. This is likely to mean that X Co will have to lower its prices and/or launch new products which will successfully compete with Y Co. This may cause X Co’s profits to decrease. In addition, given X Co’s lack of liquidity, the company might find it difficult to invest in the R&D needed to develop new products. If R&D is needed the company will probable have to rise more capital (2 marks. Pretty much the whole story and the advice has been linked to X Co’s position. (a) to (c) were rather generic)

So by writing in much detail and accurately specified with the scenario,we can assume that one point could give 2 marks right?

That is a very reasonable assumption.
