12. Mary has just been appointed as marketing manager at M Co., a supermarket.
What accounting information will be required by Mary to be successful in her role?
(i) Prices charged in the past and by competitors
(ii) Salaries of checkout staff
(iii) Customer demographics
(iv) Profitability by product
A. (i), (iii) and (iv) only
B. (iii) only
C. (i), (ii), (iii) and (iv)
D. (i) and (iv) only
I chose A. However, the correct answer is D (with no given explanation).
Can you please explain? Because I thought customer demographics help business discover different categories of a population which improve the efficiency of marketing
I agree with you that customer demographics are very important in marketing. However, the question specifies ‘accounting information’ and I don’t think demographics are part of that.
I do hate this type of sneaky question designed to trip you up for no good reason.
Ah right, thanks sir!
No problem!
